I saw them. I was 14.

I did and yes I am (although was a bit older than 16 in the 90’s). God that brings back some (vague) memories.

Haha! We used to do a tour of venues…dog & trumpet, if we got turned away = Browns.
Browns, if we got turned away (we invariably did) = Colin Campbell.

Well i say enjoyed but it was horrible stuff. And i say treated, but it was all i could afford!

Then I'd be on trolley duty in Sainsbury's Trinity Street at 8am the next morning. That was an experience. They'd kick out all the nutters on weekend release from the old Cov and Warwick hospital on Stoney Stanton Road and the Sainsbury's would be the first place they'd arrive at as they wandered into town. Had one or two scary moments in that job!

A typical Saturday night for me back in the late 90s would consist of,in no particular order,either Browns,(complete with ol pineapple head herself),The Campbell,Scholars sometimes,The Colosseum,(Groovy Gardens nights were brilliant),The Elastic Inn,The Golden Cross....good times

Yeah I think that attitude of turning folk away with no explanation was eventually their undoing.
I think they turned some squadies away who had been remembering a fallen soldier and it made the papers.
They looked c***s and it lead to a boycott.

There is so much musical heritage here there is even a museum celebrating it, and there’s not one single song that is favourable to this stuff being trotted out? Very weird

Yes, the cross! Top pub! Was having a break from that sort of thing when the colosseum was going. Sounded like a good night…

Busters! Ha. Spent many a drunken late one in there (Tuesdays were interesting). Parrot and Park lane weren’t my sort of thing, farah and button down shirts galore. And a punch up if you felt like it. Good mate got a brick in the side of his head after a night in the Parrot. Don’t think I ever went.

Do you not think you're being a little precious over this? We need a song that the fans can sing along to and create an atmosphere. Could be Des O'conner as far as I'm concerned if the fans get behind it.

One of the last times we were in the Colly, now Kasbah, a friend thought he'd try his luck by writing 'he's got chlamydia' and showing it to any ladies with male attention, along with his NHS card as 'proof'. Suffice to say we had to leave fast

'Saturday' by The Enemy seems an obvious contender to me.

I liked the snippet of “Be Somebody” they played for a bit whilst the players were lining up. Decent Cov band, one (or two?) of them city fans, decent enough song to get you up and the chorus basically told the players to put a performance in.
