I feel like I’m picking on you, which I’m not! But the first goal came from (indirectly) a hard and low cross from Maatsen.

Yeah Maatsen did it more yesterday, more the first few games. Hopefully it’s something we’ve been working on. I like Maatsen a lot, I just have a real irrational hatred of floaty crosses to no one. Same as the floaty corners we did a lot last year.

There were lots of times first half where Hyam had the ball and instead of pushing forwards and stretching the opposition and making space he hung back. He’ll learn how we play. He has a habit of tucking in and leaving the wide areas uncovered too.

He will get better cohesion with time but for me he was making fair efforts to get up the pitch.

He has hardly played for 6 months and he’s pacing himself through games until he reaches full fitness

he will have to over achieve as there’s some pre conceived bias against him for some reason.

He can be as feisty in interviews as he likes as long as he does what he’s paid to do.

Yea I’m not on the same Kane hype train as others.

He looked more of a RB than a RWB, albeit much improved second half. His crossing is definitely an asset and his work rate impressive too considering he’s been out for so long.

His strength seems his distribution and that cross for the goal (and the COH miss, which was first half) was great and intelligent play.

Dabo is the first choice for me still. He’s more direct than Kane and has the ability to take people on, which helps shift us up the pitch.

Good addition to the squad and I suspect there’s more to come too, but Dabo is the better player, albeit they have different styles.

Bet you bloody hated McAllister!
We seem a lot more inventive, or just generally better this year. Hamer and Waghorn from set pieces have been fantastic. Shame we haven’t put the sword in there more.

Defensively Maatsen was all at sea in that first half, Kane wasn’t but you called the latter ‘awful’. He wasn’t but we’ll just agree to disagree.
The only issue first half with Kane was his crosses were a bit too deep and near the keeper but that’s being rather picky. He’s a good player and versatile

Kane had a good game. As usual when he got into the box or wide right when in good position the final decision making looked lost. Dabo for all his strengths he's guilty of that too. That final ball.

We have 3 wing backs and two can fill in on the left so all will probably get plenty of games during the season

Slight shame we didn’t bring Godden on instead of Walker just so we’d have had half the L1 side on the pitch as we went top: Hyam, Jones, Kelly, Allen

(Edit: actually forgot about O’Hare, so we did)

So I should say in match threads “he’s crap (but this only applies to his performance in this game we’re commenting on right now and may change in the future and this is in no way a statement on him as a human or his underlying potential)”?
Or just say ‘Kane has been poor so far today’ like a normal person would.

We had 3 from L2 on the pitch at the end, bit surreal for the transformation those players have seen

Everyone a lot to say about this performance and while not wishing dampen the mood, the first half we a little 'off' our game. passes were not coming off, the Posh had good possession and we started to look like a long night might be ahead. If you listen to MR after match interview he says much the same.
Words at halftime put us back on our game and the rest is history as they say. O'Hare once again did not have a great game, mainly as he was marked tightly, but Gykores is something very different and no one knows how to handle him. For me it's him and one of Godden, Walker or Waghorn.
Clarke-salter is starting to show his class, and Mcfaz so far looks like he has gained extra quality.
Some way to go but there are not many 'teams' in this league better than us.

Having Kane and Dabo should bring us plenty of goals late on now. As as one gets tired we can swap them.

You can tell at points that Kane is still rusty mainly with decision making. But that will come over time.

It’s great going on social media and seeing away fans praise the atmosphere at home. It’s buzzing at the moment. We’ve finally bought our away atmosphere home with us and that corner acts like an away end. You don’t get many home fans out singing away followings but we’ve done it every game so far.

Long may it continue. Let's just hope it doesn't turn toxic and negative again if we lose a couple.

It was always bit silly to say Ricoh not capable of atmosphere. We just had a shit time of it that's all.

THIS

This is why I dragged myself up on a Tuesday night to watch us lose to FGR with 5k in there and fans arguing in the stands and on this pitch.

All of those bad times make this so much sweeter

I was there with you mate , fucking long way back but we've done it
