Very similar in style to Baka imo - combination of pace and strength forms a really powerful athlete...

Two key differences are aggression and the ability to properly strike a ball.

Character wise a lot better with agression .

I’ll hold my hands up, didn’t think he was up to much at all last season and thought it was a waste of money. Looks a different player this time around and was phenomenal last night. Him and Walker will be a formidable partnership.

You could see there was a player there at the end of last season. I was happy we got him. He works hard on and off the ball and seems to be able to take the ball with him out of tight situations. Not getting carried away, the team will have poor days and so will he. Got to take the rough with the smooth.

I was pleased when we signed him as you could see the talent was there with his consistently improving performances last year, as he gained confidence, fitness and match sharpness.

He’s started this season with all those attributes on fire and that was evident last night - he was really impressive.

One thing that surprised me - I didn’t realise how good a lone striker/target man he could be. For someone who can often look clumsy he holds the ball really well. That’s where the Juke comparisons are definitely apt!

When he signed I mentioned the positive inference that he wanted to come back. That passion came through last night - he was really into the celebrations at the end and you could see how much it meant.

Could start the chant “give us a G......G” and then listen to the carnage as people shout out different letters trying to spell his name.

Who is ahead of him for Sweden? Presume there's enough players playing at a higher level that its going to be very unlikely he gets a call up no matter how many he scores in the Championship.

Much as it would be great for him the less attention he gets the better for us. Getting a rest in international breaks is better than extra games from our point of view.

It feels mad saying it but you wouldn’t let him go for less than £10 million - at the very least. Bottom half premier league teams will be looking in January I suspect. He’s getting better each game.

He could definitely get a call up if he keeps performing, the Sweden coach said he keeps close tabs on Vik just the other day when they announced the squad for the WC qualifiers.

Obviously Zlatan, Isak and Kulusevski are ahead of him but the other strikers play in the Middle East and can surely not be that far ahead.

If he gets 15/16 before January (which he could easily do) I would be stunned if a Burnley or someone don’t come in for him. He’s not just a lump up front, he’s a fantastic footballer too. What a signing.

Posted this on the match thread.. think I stand by it even after the excitement has subsided :)

Gyokeres reminds me of young Harry Kane, different from how is now more when he was breaking through. there is this raw/natural quality to him, like he has really strong attributes but no one single defining quality. Could picture Kane scoring Viks second.

Keeping hold of this man in January is key..the man has been simply unbelievable

No1 will put an offer in Jan, not when he’s literally just signed for us, even if he scored 15 goals no club will try and sign him when he’s literally just signed

Agree with that. Not many players would score like that. Such a contrast with Maatsen's goal but in some ways as impressive

That second put me in mind of Lineker. Looks sloppy, but it's all about getting on the right side of the defender. Then, just a little poke past the keeper.

Well timed run, get beyond defender and keep cool. Guide the ball beyond keeper from that range and every chance of scoring. The first also was similar…find the space, accept the pass and stroke or home
