Came on to read how we did against the u23s and instead got Grendel do his best impression of cc4l in his spelling of Enobakhare and US talk about shoving Malteasers up his arse. A standard match thread on SBT.

It was up someone else's arse I think you will find. That's makes it all the more sane then.

Up his own would just be weird.

I disagreed with the some of the opinions on here about the performance of the team. The Bright comment was sarcastic. No one in the team ripped up any trees (including Bright).. but no one was dogshit either. It’s just the usual bollox spouted on every single match thread (present company included).
Assumed this would be the case. Thanks for the balanced view.

Forest didn't think McGoldrick was either though did they.
No that’s true, and Forest’s recent record isn’t exactly one to aspire to but it shows that another club at around our level were happy to let him go I guess. I don’t know, can’t decide about Walker but out of the 4 strikers I think he’s the one I’m most uncertain of at this level. He just doesn’t seem to have really got going for us ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Top scorer last season and a similar goal record at this level and the one below to Godden.

Swansea let Györkeres go essentially. Not sure it means much. Walker needs a run in the side and he’ll score goals. Same as Godden. In fact career stats wise it’s only Waghorn who isn’t really a goal scorer.

He scored seven goals. Yes there were mitigating factors including fitness and illness but for me the jury is out.

Mitigating factors like he was injured half the season. He scored a goal every 258 mins, more than 1 in 3 without a solid run in the team.

And his record across his career is just under 1 in 2. He’s a top class finisher.

He won’t stick around for long if he stays on the bench mind. Think he’d pair best with Gyo which we went with at Barnsley and looked promising till his shoulder went

you are an example of someone clearly removed from the action so your passion for the club is dumbed down against those who go to games and it’s getting worse

This is one of the most annoying things about this forum. The whole 'I go to games so my passion for the club is greater than yours'.

Sorry G, but that's bullshit. Those who go to games are a.) lucky and b.) likely to form better opinions first hand.

However, anyone who is a fan but doesn't go regularly shouldn't be called out as having less passion or any less right to defend/criticise players. Opinions can be formed from watching it on TV, highlights, SBT threads (maybe), paper right ups etc. The accuracy of such opinions might be different but someone living in the States or Portsmouth or Timbuktu can still make valued opinions on players or the team, without being a fucking superfan who goes to the CBS every other week.

Still missing things tippy tappy typing away.

At least when I miss things it's the first goal and Maatsens goal on Saturday due to finishing my beer and taking my son for a piss respectively.

I tried tapping updates before at a game but kept missing stiff so wondered how/why others do it.

What age did you take your boy to his first game?

6, the Peterborough game. Doesn't know he's born at the moment with the results we've had.

I was wary about his attention span as he won't watch football for longer than 5 minutes on TV but he's loved it.

My boy is 3 next week and I've been wondering when to take him to his first game. Probably still too young I guess - similar to yours - the attention span of a knat. Will wait until he's a bit older.

Plenty of people take them 3 or younger but it's not for me, too much effort.

I tried it once and did exactly that, missed bits of the game. You can't type and watch at the same time. After that attempt, I went back to only posting pregame half time and when there were breaks in play for injuries.

I think we were all eternally grateful for that.

Yeah, I get that. Every 5 minutes I'm sure it'd be 'daddy, I need another wee'....

I think I'll wait until he shows more interest. There's a hill that overlooks Portsmouth called Portsdown Hill and we drive across it to his nans house. I say 'look, what's that down there?' pointing at the city of Portsmouth and he says 'Coventry'. Needs a bit more education as well before I bring him to actual Coventry!

I agree, but the flip side is some try and act the uber fan and jump on anyone making a critical point to enhance their credentials.
