How are all of you gimps scrapping with police?

It's probably fair to say that most police officers are alright, and there for the right reasons, but the police as an institution needs to do more to root out, and not provide a platform for, those who are there for anything but that! Along with doing more to stop them being there in the first place.
I think those that are there for the right reasons end up corrupted by the institution and turn a blind eye to what their mates and colleagues do.

Lucky for you having positive experiences with the police. Maybe if you actually listened to what the rest of us are saying you'd see why there is such a big problem.

I know why there is a problem, and I agree with what NW has written articulately above.

Putting a alternative view based on differing experiences is life, real life, it isn't disagreeing with what you have experienced it is putting balance into a debate.

Youre getting very defensive because you know and like some coppers and it’s stopping you reading what I’m writing. The Police attracts a certain personality type and doesn’t do enough to stop them joining or weed them out. That includes the nice coppers who seemingly turn a blind eye.

When I’ve been threatened with violence by coppers there’s always been at least two or three behind them doing nothing. I’m sure they’re very nice down the pub but their lack of action is allowing them to be tarred with the same brush. That’s what’s coming out from the Met as well: lots of people turning a blind eye to the bad apples.

I know a copper who isn't a bad apple , she will tell you the same about the police .. alot of power hungry , smarmy people in the police force

How is she still in the job then? If I ended up somewhere and it was a load of really unsavoury people doing some dodgy stuff I'd leave.

I have a box of thank you cards at home, my favourite keepsake from my time teaching, slightly ruined by the fact half of them are for “Mr Flecther”

Could be worse... was sure you were going to say they called you Mr Feltcher.

*EDIT
Ah ffs... Beaten to it by @Skybluefaz
That'll teach me to read the whole thread first.

That sort of argument goes against the work the officers that worked on this awful case did to put that piece of scum away.
The ones that will have done everything they could to nail the piece of shit.

You know what? I spotted that as the best insult for my surname when I was about 13 and despite being called lots of names since no one has ever used that.
Bit too direct tbh. Doesn't feel clever enough. Combined with a mum joke could have some pretty cutting potential. As an aside I do wonder if the felching fraternity bought about the true demise of the paper straw. Despite media reports about plastic coatings etc.

Boris Johnson: free market libertarian when it comes to stopping rape. Command and control when it comes to working from home. Make it make sense.

Of course it makes sense.

If we stay at home Tory donors don't make money on renting out their large property portfolio's.

If we try and stop women getting raped that's going to cost money.

Why would you want to spend money on something like stopping people being attacked when it could be used on some vanity project to boost your own ego or to help your mate buy a bigger yacht?

Oh you mean it’s not about political ideology and just what makes his mates money?

Police officers have the recourse to use violence that the rest of us don't, including teachers.

It's fine if you generally support the police and have good interactions with them, I don't have the same experience as you, but I find it quite telling that those generally supportive of them in this thread are falling back to the same tactic of standing up for them and closing ranks like they do internally and not saying that they need to do more to protect the public from themselves.

I have no doubt there are good people in the police but they far too often turn a blind eye to what is in front of them. I've seen them abuse their power dozens of times and receive no consequences and not be challenged by those around them. That must be over 100 bad apples just from my personal experience.

If there are good police officers they need to be out there now saying "we're not doing enough, we need to change and improve" what we've had so far is a torrent of victim blaming and deflection meaning that the institution is corrupted.
Absolutely right.

There’s a lot of public service workers on Tinder, it’s a hard job to meet people in. Not sure a Tinder like is harassment.

Also she’s only know they liked her if she’s on tinder gold or liked them back…

Women get hundreds of likes a day…

Maybe the story is "Serving police officers use dating app to target and harass woman who is bringing a civil case against the police.

If you can't see the issue with that then I feel for you

It depends if they have signed up, made a profile with their own picture and name, sat swiping for hours just to find her and then swiped right on her.

Swiping right on somebody is harassment? It begs the question why she is on Tinder if people swiping right on her is "harassment". She is also obviously paying for it so she can see exactly who is swiping right on her.

Let's face it, she will probably get hundreds of swipes a day as people just look at the first picture and decide. She's also not bad looking.

Yeah, it's a non story but let's not let common sense get involved. It's almost as if she wanted to get back into the news again after the court case.... You swallow it up though.

The details are important here and some of them aren't known. You're talking about someone whose picture at the protest went viral so if, as the article implies, she got 50 likes from police and security guards shortly after her arrest that seems a bit suspect, especially if her claim that they were all in uniform is correct.

Not sure even if I was a police officer and on Tinder I'd be having a picture of me at work as my profile photo. Does raise interesting questions about police officers use of social media and who they contact, for which I assume there are already rules in place.

It's completely random who gets shown to you, they would have to literally sit there for hours swiping through. Again has been previously stated, you can't see who 'likes' you without either paying for premium service or 'liking' them back.

Absolute non story.

Some of you seem to know a lot about how Tinder works 😂 If its completely random what are the odds of the profile of a 'BLM leftie supporter' showing up for over 50 police officers immediately after her arrest? No idea how the algorithm works, is that likely?

If this is just a complete coincidence then fair enough - non story.

Because she’s a woman and she’s hot so she’ll get swiped right a lot and shown a lot that’s how the algo works.

I think you’re seriously underestimating how many likes women get on Tinder. Even average looking women get tens every day. A hot redhead will get hundreds a day. 50 from “people in security and the police” isn’t remarkable at all.

No, it is random who it shows but you still have to swipe to like so if she was suddenly getting 50 police officers liking her profile then there is an element of human action.

The police are investigating it so it's not just a paper story.

I've used tinder in the past, basically an app to meet up with randoms and have sex. A hot women will have hundreds of likes a day, even the most undesirable women get huge amount of likes.
