Some tough selection decisions here. I’d like to see Kane in for his final ball, especially with Walker in the team. Not sure about Dabo on the left but equally not sure about dropping him. Maybe start Dabo and bring Kane on later if we’re looking for a goal depending on how the WBs are getting on.

I’d like JCS back in, but Rose was excellent and hard to drop. Tempted to say drop Hyam but he’s been excellent recently too.

Sheaf in for Kelly I think is a no brainier.

Up front Id be tempted to go Walker and Godden if Vik isn’t fit, but they don’t seem to work that well together, but both in goal scoring form and I’d always play strikers in form if I can.

Will be interesting to see what Robins goes for. Most of all I want a reaction from Wednesday so whoever is showing that in training id give the go ahead to.
I'd be tempted to play Rose between Hyam and JCS, i think fadz has dropped off it a bit in the last cuople of games.

It's a tough choice for Robins to make. Godden was arguably man of the Match against Fulham, but Walker has scored 2 in 2. Waghorn is probably back to full fitness too and will be desperate to play against Derby. I guess it's a great problem to have.

He wasn't. Great assist but he was completely anonymous in the first half.

McFadzean will play every game he’s fit I imagine. The defence would crumble (even more so) without him
No bigger fan of McFadz than me but in the last two games Blackburn & Preston I thought he struggled in the last 15 or so minutes although admittedly part of that was due to the gap we had centre midfield. Michael Rose who I rate highly was okay in both games playing out of position on the left, we need JCS back for balance, interesting dilemma for Robins.

Good dilema to have

For Saturday's game I'd take Hyam out, move Rose across and bring JCS back in.

Take Kelly out for Sheaf.

I thought Gyokeres wasn't quite as sharp as he has been so would possibly consider Godden and Walker up top to start.

While Preston screwed me over by winning by my accurately predicted scoreline, I definitely think Vik's ankle was our downfall on Wednesday. He wasn't half the player we've seen so far this season. So while he's our talisman, he does need to be rested for a game or two. I believe Wagz and Vik are alike in playstyle in trying to pull defenders out of place and making runs into channels. So if Vik is rested, even though God is available and on a high after signing his contract extension, I can see Wagz and Walker starting. Midfield of Allen, Hamer and Kelly so COH can get a rest too. We're 13 games into the season already so we're going to have to start rotating players, even the key ones.

Derby are on the up (siege mentality at work?) and our amazing home form has to end eventually. This will be the game.

Cov 1-2 Derby. Walker to score first again.

I think Godden and Walker are too similar. I'd play Walker and Waghorn if Gyo isn't 100%.

Godden and Gyo are then top class options off the bench.

Based on Wednesday's performance vs Preston, I think against Derby I'd go with Moore, Dabo, Rose, Fadz, JCS, Kane, Hamer, Allen, O'Hare, Godden and Walker.

JCS in for Hyam and move Rose over.
It is an option although apart from the Preston game Hyam has been excellent. I do think Rose has done enough the last two games to stay in the team and imo JCS should come back in, will be interesting.

Great to have so many good options up front from where we were just last season.

All 4 are in good form but also have something to prove:

- Gyökeres - Purple patch or the real deal?

- Walker - 2 in 2 having looked like he'd slipped to 4th choice. Led the line well at PNE & will want to keep the shirt.

- Godden - Scored + assisted before the ban + hat-trick for U23s & new contract. Will want to be in the XI.

- Waghorn - Been very good as a link man & workrate is excellent. Will want to add more goals & what better time than against former club?

I know Maatson had a poor game on Weds night but there is no way i would drop him for either Kane or Dabo based on the Blackburn performances at left back. If Victor is even remotely doubtful i would leave him out for one of the other two.

Can see this being our hardest game at home so far this season, heart always says a win, but i think im not even going to try and predict after Wednesday nights, 3- 1 City ;)

Maatsen had a poor second half but then again so did everybody, he was decent first half and agree that he's a far better option then a right footed player. In fairness to him as well he is disadvantaged playing to the left of a right sided centre back.

I wasnt singling Maatsen out, simply that some in this thread wanted Dabo at left back which would be bad enough but if JCS is missing having Dabo or Kane on the left side again is a disaster waiting to happen.

Reading this thread makes you appreciate the options we now have available compared to last season.
Still a bit light in one or two areas but still a vast improvement.
Also if the unthinkable happens and we don't go up (we're going up) then we have another year of Championship experience in the squad another year of championship money to improve the squad and possible a couple of big windfalls to improve the squad.

We may spend a lot less than most clubs in this division but what I've learned since we got promoted is that most teams are chucking way too much money at bang average players. All we have to do is be smart in our recruitment and we're fine.

I just don't feel like we're under threat and have already established ourselves at this level. Feels good man.

Not that I disagree with you but I imagine Barnsley thought the same last season. If we don't go up and lose the likes of O'Hare, Hamer and Gyokeres things could get difficult, but if it is MR still at the helm then I tend to share your optimism.
