His 2 goals in the last 2 games masked 3/10 performances, offered very little, clearly a contested point as proving by the 2 cov fans in me nearly having a fight between themselves about it…

What else do you want him to do? Save the next penalty that gets awarded against us?

His goal against Preston was extremely fortunate, was given all the time in the world and was so accidental he almost dummied himself. Robins plays with a high energy approach to games, we press hard and counter attack at pace, he is the opposite of all of that. Not saying he’s a bad player, he just doesn’t suit our system or style of play

I do think it's a bit weird to argue about Goddens inclusion in the team when he played as well as he did today.

But also, Walker is just a different type of striker to the others we have. I'm not sure why some people fail to understand that and assume he is "lazy" or "offers little".

I kind of hoped our style of play included scoring goals, but I guess Walker should focus on pressing instead.

He was in the right place at the right time (yet again) and it was a good finish - that's his game.

Do have to wonder why he was a long term target going back to League 1 then?

We’re playing a totally different brand of football to back then? Our wing backs play far higher, we often deploy a box system in midfield and we regularly play 2 up front, entirely different to league 1. As I said different style…?

We often played the box midfield in League 1 did we not? I'd say we did that more often in League 1 than we do now! But I get your point.

So both played 90 minutes in each game? Also of course Godden dropped into non league after an initial few games in tbe championship while Walker played odd 5 minutes as a cameo in a forest team as a teenager

Man your an idiot

it’s happening again isn’t it? You are looking like a clueless idiot and people laugh at you - you going away again for 6 months and changing your name again?

If you are going to call someone an idiot then don’t make yourself look like one:

“man you’re an idiot”, not “man your an idiot”.

Just saying.

Matty godden overall career championship record

9 goals in 1876 minutes

1 goal every 208 minutes

Tyler walker overall championship record

14 goals in 3701 minutes

1 goal every 264 minutes

It's in black and white lads

Neither are bad records tbh

This is the danger, I rate them both and I don’t want it to be a ‘Godden v Walker’ scenario as if one or the other is no good, but when push comes to shove Godden has the better record & at this stage it’s pretty clear the manager has more faith in him than Walker.

The other argument that Walker had 5 minutes all the time at forest doesn't work either .

In his 45 appearances in the championship for them he averaged 40 minutes per match

It doesn't have to be , biamou has left now so we need a new argument by the looks of it

Robins has always operated in a way you make the shirt your own scoring 2 in 2 as a striker can’t be enough

Right, but all you could ask of Walker when given his opportunity to start is to make the most of it, which he unquestionably did.

Walker will do brilliantly alongside a big fella against slower opponents.

In L2 and L1 he’ll score brimfuls.

In the Champ he will score regularly if playing alongside the right strike partner.

BUT it’s his overall game that lacks. He can’t bully, tracking back is a chore, he’s not an extra man defending a corner, passing? Nah.

I’d be sending him in loan after Xmas and using whatever % of his wages we get to get a big maniac in.

It is an argument .

There is no metric to suggest this is true

Not one ...and the manager doesn't think so either

Poor bloke has been totally mauled on this thread because he’s got nowhere to go.

Godden and Vik are 1st choice because they’re our best two strikers at the club. Walker is a quality back up on the bench, for rotation and covering injuries/suspension. It’s exactly what we needed this season. strength in depth.

Not sure I'd loan him out , but I do believe the club will look to cash in in the summer if they can and get a young striker with a bigger engine in instead

If you measure him on goals only, there’s more to it than that. As I said though, I am not anti-Walker one bit

It's what he's paid to do, but what he needs is service. I don't dislike Godden either, but over the next few seasons he'll decline while Walker will get better.

I don't think walker will get much better , I mean Shipley is a similar age and I don't see him improving much if at all .

He's fine for what we need him for now though ..

The argument that he must work harder for me definitely holds weight and will probably hold him back in his career

If he can't do that then I don't see him progressing

I’d loan him - put him in the shop window - get his confidence up. Playing him alongside Godden won’t do him any good.

being mauled by you is like being knocked down by a feather duster - Tyler Walker is the most valuable asset of the two and scored two goals from open play in 2 games. He’s sharper he’s younger he’s the better player

Robins knows better. That’s what he bought Kelly on which cost is the win

To be fair grendel , I agree that that particular sub did us no favours ..
And I'd agree that due to age and age only Walker has more value ..

As I've shown you though he certainly isn't the better footballer , or goalscorer by any metric

the manager , who despite making a couple of poor subs here and there , yet got us promoted twice and stabilised in this division in 4 years... thinks the same

We’re playing for this season. Robins plays who he thinks is his strongest eleven on any given day. I rate Walker but Godden’s overall game is better. Walker will undoubtedly be involved but he’s not first choice if everyone’s fit. It’s just the way it is this season.. so far anyway. Who knows what happens beyond that.
