I'm probably being over generous, we were pretty poor overall against one of the worst sides in the league.

Bonus points for Maatsen and Godden for the assist and goal.

I dont think we were poor.

These are fighting for their lives. They barely had a shot. There are no easy games in this league especially away from home. Brilliant result. All that matters. Did more than enough. We wernt at our best. But did the job.

3 points is 3 points. But we weren't great. You wouldn't have looked at the two teams as say one was bottom 3 and the other was top 4.

We were good first 15 then after that we weren't great and created very little.

Happy with the win, the 3 game rot has stopped, but I wasn't blown away. I certainly didn't see lots of 8/10's out there.

You say we weren't great, which may well be true, but the pundit at the game for Talksport thought we were the better team and the result should've been more comfortable. Think sometimes we are over critical.

Jcs our best player - 8
Maatsen bounced back.
Defence and gk just fine
Thought midfield wernt great. Benjamin sheaf sees passes no one else sees...aka toe pokes straight to their player every time.
O hare has become a marked man

0-1 take it and move on.

Actually though vik had a decent game , was unlucky not to score really .

Maatson MOTM

Godden with a well taken goal

Hyam poor passing throughout , fadz and JCS generally solid .. dabo steady .

Sheaf very sloppy at times , hamer not at his best either

O hare workrate as usual very high .

Unsure of individual ratings as it would look harsh I suppose .. we were largely underwhelming.

Wins a win and take the 3 points

I thought JCS was MOTM myself, Maatsen had a very good game.
Not being there today got a bit of a different perspective and although Hamer was sloppy thought his work rate out of possession was very good but as I've said to others, sometimes it's hard to judge off the ball stuff watching on the tele.

On reflection it was just a case of a good side going ahead and seeing a game out very comfortably

No one was bad, for someone who’s praised Sheaf a lot, thought today he “Sheafed” a little too much, Hamer saved his blushes at one point, that said he won a fair few duels and played some good passes. Wasn’t particularly bad, just a few mishaps. On the flip side JCS rightly getting praised, he was superb. Maatsen just edged him for my MOTM. Both very, very good. Fairly bland overall performance but who cares. We’ve won away.

Hamer 8? Genuinely thought he was poor today. Set pieces especially were awful. Sheaf was better yet when he gives away a pass its universal groans in the crowd but when Hamer balloons a free kick over the bar he gets a song!

That hamer free kick summed him up today, and all season tbh.

It's weird shit like this on this forum I don't quite fully grasp. In the top 6 and one poor free kick sums up one of our midfielders performances "all season", when he's played most of all of our games so far?!

All in average performance.

Maatsen was a mixed bag, some really good and really bad.

JCS very good.

Hyam very poor passing out of defence in second half.

Sheaf and Hamer (two very different players with very different skills and attributes, in the team for very different reasons) both very average today. They've both been a lot better.

Godden very good first half.

Viktor very good but took a beating.

O'Hare as good as ever.

There was one bit in the first half when he won the ball. It looked like a free kick against him but wasn't given.

He then proceeded to push forward and pass the ball straight to one of their players, as if he couldn't believe he'd got away with a foul and subsequently lost concentration.

I honestly think he needs a spell out of the team for some people to realise how important he is to how we play.

He's in one of the busiest areas of the pitch. He's not trying to be a Sammy Clingan, just appreciate what he does when it works out and enjoy it. He's not there for ball retention. He's there for aggression and his desire to pass the ball progressively, which doesn't always work out I know.

This is just mental.

There is still that **groan** mentality when players give the ball away. Yes in some instances that is kind of applicable (Hyam twice in the second half today...).

I will never groan when a player has grafted, ran 40 yards, won the ball and tried to thread an eye of the needle pass that doesn't quite work out.

Both Hamer and Sheaf have had a really good start to the season, the results agree with me at least. We generally look good in midfield when they both start. Today was probably their poorest game together this season so far and they were still okay.

Hamer has the ability to singlehandedly lift the team.

Goal vs Reading and Posh. Spring to mind.

As well as number of times he wins the ball in our area. And springs an attack that he starts. And in 3 passes we score.

Vs Csrdiff and Middlesbro
And he’s got the best song!!!!!!

Amazing we have so many points when
Dabo can’t cross
Maatsen can’t defend
Hyam can’t pass
Fadz and JCS are too slow
Hamer can’t pass
Sheaf gives it away
Ohare can’t shoot
And Godden has no pace
Forgot Waghorn is overpaid
Sorry and Robins is too defensive

Moore and Gyokeres seem ok at the moment

We haven’t got a boo boy we’ve a whole team of them

Yet we do have 2 boo boys judging by social media and hearing fans at games. Some of those are factual statements not criticisms. Of course you always defend the team so i wouldnt expect you to ever spot any poor performances even when warranted.
It is possible to be 4th in the league and still be able to spot things that are not perfect.

.From the off we had a spell of possesion and in the first 10 minutes I don't think Hull touched the ball more than 10 times then we scored the goal and we seemed to stop playing that way and was too casual. Overall yesterday we were poorish and gave them a little hope to get back into it but although our standards had dropped we still looked the better of 2 the poor teams, they struggled to get a shot on target and we troubled them rarely. Win ugly is what we done but its no good for the nerves, Maatson looked lively and if Dabo had made Jesus's last hanging place you would have heard the words 'shit cross' on a regular basis, Sheaf really needs to improve his concentration levels or awareness levels because yet again he was playing death balls but they were covered by Hull being surprised and didn't appear to know what to do with them. Overall we just about deserved to win, onto Swansea now because that ones in the bag with another marvellous 3 points.

It'd be interesting to see pass completion yesterday of Hamer compared to Sheaf. I suspect it'd be about similar but Sheaf's misplaced passes are the ones everyone highlights...

If people think Hamers playing below par then they really need to understand a couple of things with him and how he fits into our team. When he’s in the team he increases the passing tempo massively especially going forward compared to our other midfielders. This makes us a far more dangerous team switching from defence to attack. He is one step ahead of most of our team and because of this plays the ball where players should be or into space where they should be moving to. Because some aren’t at his level sometimes the ball looks wasted.

It’s hard to tell whether the defender is trying to play offside or whether it’s Goddens little step to the left that drawers him out and then Godden runs in behind him. Either way, he’s such an intelligent mover in those situations.

The difference is that Sheaf plays balls across the back 4 and loses it leaving us badly exposed whereas Hamer, O’Hare etc do it over the half way line so there’s more cover

Although it is nice for him not to be offside for once!

A great goal.
