O’Hare (9 Viewers)

Totally disagree with this. That's the slowest forward 3 I've ever seen in my life. We need to get rid of one of the four strikers. All too similar.

maybe Waghorn in coh position

Fleck was a second striker in the early stages of his career. Coventry dropped him deeper.

O'Hare is nowhere near as good at passing as Fleck, but that's what Hamer is for.
Yes and unless we are planning to drop O’Hare deeper I’m not sure what the comparison is about. He plays behind the two strikers

Saw enough from Walker and Gyokores against Preston to think they could work well together. Don’t think Waghorn offers much of a goal threat but his link up play is good. O’Hare is one of our best players but really needs a rest. Maybe Allen could come in with Sheaf and Hamer playing deep but I do think Allen is better running from deep in a midfield 2. We’re getting a bit desperate at CAM and need to try something else.

If you had a better attacking midfielder, who can score and has a bit of pace. You could play 5-3-1-1.

Or you play 5-3-2-1 with O'Hare further forward.

The issue I have is relying on O'Hare behind the strikers. He's never going to score goals.

I know it's completely different, but look at Cov sides in the last 10 years, you could always rely on someone like Shipley, Baker, Moussa, Murphy etc to chip it. O'Hare will unlikely get 2 goals this season.

Waghorn and Gyökeres is comfortably the best two but he's clearly struggled with Covid and injury.

Godden and Walker scoring goals has also tempted Robins away from him.

O hare is a box to box player - he’s not dissimilar to fleck who scored 20 goals to date in his whole career - he’s not a number 10

Very odd take. And one that sounds more like you’re making an excuse for a player you’ve backed to the hilt for not chipping in with his fair share of goal contributions.

No disputing that those 2 are our best front 2, but if we’re talking about resting COH, my original post is what I’d like to see even if just for 1 game

Hamer, Kelly and Allen for me Saturday.

Love o’hare but his ability to finish is concerning and holding him/us back.

If he is in the side to assist/score then it’s not quite working now. If he’s in the side for his work rate then he stays in but he looked knackered last night.

Perhaps robins goes one up front and a four in centre midfield?

I think that's the way to go.

Or you have a quicker striker with Gyökeres.

We have absolutely no pace going forward. A quick striker would have had a field day in behind that Swansea defence.
Do you perhaps think they defended that high because they knew we had no pace? I doubt they would use the exact same style or tactic against a team with quick forwards. Just a thought.

Haven't read the thread, but there is an International break after Bristol = rest. O'Hare's work rate was immense again, but his composure was lacking, and that shot was ...frustrating. However not long ago we had Callum Reilly. I know who I'd rather have.

1000%. It was so easy for them.

Even when Jodi came on, we played him too deep. Maatsen stayed up top from their corners. He should have gambled and played up further forward to break their high line.

Kelly would have been tore to shreds last night had he played.

Also, O'Hare has 3 assists. More than Hamer, Maatsen and Allen.

Yes he’s in need of a rest but there’s no way you can drop him, as alternatives are considerably weaker. Allen isn’t good enough to play 10 considering the amount of ball COH sees, and Jones is nowhere near (whether that’s temporary or permanent remains to be seen).

Other than his inability to score, any negative talk around COH is ridiculous. He’s by far our biggest spark and his ability to receive the ball and run between the lines is second to none. Perhaps if Gyokeres has scored one of his two sitters last night, or Goddens final ball has been better we wouldn’t be talking about this.

Re Paterson, it’s ridiculous we didn’t sign him. Very much an MR fan (I would say who isn’t, but the MR out narrative will start soon enough), but not getting him in was a bad call. People saying he wanted guarantees - where have you heard that from?

Perhaps if ohare had shot instead of passed to the keeper and not given the ball away countless times in threatening positions we might not be talking about this

Had a cracking game today.
He did, and it turns out he’s having an injury free season (like Walsh did for us)

with hindsight should we have paid the money? Yes! But ultimately he wanted first team guarentees, probably wanted a significant wage and had been off the back of an injury hit few years.

Theres no way we should have took that risk back in July. Fair play to him though. Showing what a player he is when 100% fit

I know you’re not the one saying this , but if bright was worth the risk , surely He was?!
