Guessing it is extremely hard to identify whether they actually caught it at the match or whether they caught it in the car travelling to the game, the pub beforehand etc.

I got tested positive for Covid in the week after the Fulham game and started getting symptoms on the Tuesday. Hard to say whether I got it at the match though as I did visit several other establishments that night.

I have one friend who is a huge denier and regurgitates theories from an attempt to implement communism globally to biological manipulation. Another person I knew from school just straight up saying it’s a hoax, taking the piss out of people wearing masks etc and making loads of angry videos.
What the fuck is up with these people? Are they just scared of needles?

Got a couple. One his best mate is a proper conspiracy theorist who spends his time in online game chats with other conspiracy nuts. Thinks the vaccine is a hoax and there’s going to be a race war (?).
Another who think it’s a “plandemic” designed to stop money being spent (?). He’s into every conspiracy from flat Earth to ancient aliens to Rothschilds to 9/11 you name it.
I think some people just like the feeling they’ve got knowledge others haven’t. Usually ones with a chip on their shoulder about not having and education in my experience.

Yeah I’ve got one, although I think the friendship is is probably now over. He’s brought into every conspiracy going from the it’s 5G that’s caused it to the vaccine is a tracking system. I’ve spoke about him before on here where he’ll ring me to tell me the latest conspiracy, I’ll dismiss it with some inconvenient facts and he’ll go away and find a new conspiracy theory. The last two was it killed every animal it was tested on, which in actual fact is most likely true. However, being one of those lefty, woke, vegetarian, animal rights types I new the reason why without even looking. The fact is it’s deliberate, they test them to distraction. Some of the procedures on its own would kill them with or without administering the vaccine. I point that out to him and off he trots until he can find something else.
Next thing he comes back with is it contains synthetic acids and they can kill you. Again he’s probably right but again the devil is in the detail. Synthetic acids are in everything from tomato sauce to vinegar to beers and wines. I google it while he’s on the phone and find that out in seconds. It also sounds like it’s no more dangerous or likely to kill you than eating red meat and dairy, both of which he does because vegetarianism is tantamount to communism and he also drinks heavily. That was the last conversation we had.

Think it makes some feel they're part of an exclusive club who's superior and it's everyone else, including the scientists/doctors that actually specialise in the field globally but don't post on YouTube who are wrong.

Regarding conspiracy theorists who I have known over the years, my observation would be that (in general) they tend to be people who feel they have had a rough deal in life, but it's not their fault, it's 'the system" and the people who control it.

Totally agree with this.
I know one who thinks Covid is a hoax, and Governments across the world are using it to control us and stop us from enjoying our lives. Why they would do that is not clear.

Something I’ve heard on more than one occasion from both rabid Brexiters I know and conspiracy nuts has been “you’ve been brainwashed by Uni” and “just because you’ve got a degree doesn’t make you better than me” (which I’ve never claimed and don’t believe).
As others have said it provides a crutch for their own life shortcomings. I’m not doing badly because of my failings but because some shadowy elite is rigging the game against me. That’s powerful as it becomes part of their core identity.
It’s the same as people who have had luck in their life need to passionately believe in free markets and meritocracy, or those that haven’t need to believe in evil capitalism. You’ve got to believe that where you are either is or isn’t because of your innate talent to protect your own ego.

Power and control, fear of the unknown. It's harder to let others have control, which is actually what happens when you allow somebody else to inject you with something, trust the people who've come up with it, and the people administering it.
There's more control in not having the vaccine, as that's exclusively your decision. You're then also not granting power over you to somebody else. That ends up articulating itself as a conspiracy.

I don’t hold much truck with those “signs of fascism” stuff TBH. I think it confuses fertile ground for fascism with fascism itself. For me the cycle is usually: economic stagnation > working class unhappy > fascists/charlatans offering easy answers

Apparently Boris Johnson and his team were briefed that the would have to wear masks in all areas by the hospital trust the other day and he had to be repeatedly told to put his mask back on after repeatedly taking it off despite the briefing. Buffoon.
