Yeah I went to that one too. There were some cracking games against them during the 00s, and we seemed to get shithoused against them a lot, especially when we lost to them 1-0 at HR on a Boxing Day, I think.

They were Warnock teams in their element. Unfortunately for him you can’t get promoted playing like that these days

We never seem to do particularly well at Sheff U, the only time I remember us winning there was under Boothroyd and when we first came down from the PL.
Yes I remember first season down we won 1-0, Delorge of all people. We also won 2-1 in league 1 with a Leon Clarke double I think. The 80 million donkey was playing for them that day.

Weirdest one I ever went to at Bramall Lane, sat with my mate with the home fans, as I do when I go there. We take a half time lead through Tabb, second half they go down to 10 but still get a 1-1 through a goal from Bellend Billy. Pretty standard stuff for City.
Anyway I don't find out til the next day that Elliott Ward spooned a penalty right at the start of the second half, I was only 2 minutes late back to my seat, it was really bizarre as I heard no noise from either set of fans and no one was mentioning it all.
Needless to say I was even more gutted that we fucked it when I found out this information.

Always remember winning there on Boxing Day too…Sean Flynn scoring a cracker on his debut

We last would there in league 1 when Clarke scored a couple I think the record isn’t too bad

At this point I'm just here for the ride , its arguably our toughest run of the entire season .

Id imagine you could count the wins there over the last 20 years on one hand

We’ve only played I think 11 so yes but I’d not be thinking it as much of a bogey ground

We’ve got a really shitty run in.
Agree, but at least we will be playing Sheff Utd and Bournemouth at home instead of away in April which is more favourable I think. Not thinking about April for now and hope the boys concentrate on each game as it comes. Hope Gyo returns from this international break back to his former goal-scoring self. Have a funny feeling that with Kane now due to have an extended run in the team due to Maatsen's absence it might turn out to be a good thing as he provides a different dimension. Rose deserves more game time as well. Hopefully, we get a couple of key loans in Jan that solidify our team further for a playoff push.

In an ideal world we can find (and fund) three loans who are happy to compete for their place at CB, AM/CM, LWB. In reality I’d be very surprised if we can either afford quality well above what we’ve got or find players/clubs willing to not have guarantees of football.

Will be interesting to see what happens.

I'd be delighted with that tbh

39 points from 23 games , 78 point season

Looking back you need 76ish to make play offs (I’m sure someone has done better analysis and can correct me) so that’s 38 over half a season.

Once we’re in the playoffs all bets are off. Honesty I’d back this team with this support over anyone in a one off game.

It’s realistic Sheffield Birmingham Stoke Huddersfield are winnable as could be West Brom

We've been there a while now though , be a shame to do a reading or a forest

The work rate and spirit of these players isn’t in question. What I think might unpick us is the lack of squad depth and not enough tactical shrewdness against certain opposition.

Agree with G in his thread that we can address the former with a top up of funds in January.

Some massive ones in there, two local derbies at home, two of the top three, two relegated teams and the league leaders, and four in the top eight.

Takes us to the halfway point of the season as well.

What say you?

I think 8 points will be a good return, not sure if it’ll be enough to hold onto fourth, or even top six. 10+ and it’ll be a very happy Christmas.

Sheff U - D
Brum - W
Bournemouth - L
West Brom - D
Huddersfield - L
Stoke - W
8 points would be great, to get to the half way point on 40 points is solid play off candidacy

We've got nothing to be afraid of. I'm looking forward to some cracking games.
Even if 4 of them have to be on Hesgoal
