Funniest moment was one of the matches in the 2nd half of the season. I stood behind the goal, a couple of rows behind the original GMK lot (Knowl, Texas and a handful of others)..... Knowl had been giving Carl Baker a bit of "encouragement" (he was playing very poorly tbf).... he misplaced a simple pass and Knowl let him have it again... 10 seconds later he scored an overhead kick :D

Franck Moussa was a class player, and even Ryan Haynes had some really good games. I enjoyed it. It all went to shit when Leon Clarke fell out with Pressley and went back to Wolves in the January window. Wilson had no foil after that and we dropped away.

I was one of those twats never intimidated anyone and was a season ticket holder for 20 years still am.

Literally everyone thinks this. The question is always around whether it affects others. In this case whether by supporting their club being taken out of Cov it contributed to it staying away.

I don’t think many at all supported the action itself but a good few still wanted to support the players who had no choice.

A lot of the people that come into that category are turning their noses up at Wasps now I think. I also said it in another thread, but the success of CCFC and our attendances going up is no coincidence to their falling attendances. Make no mistake, some of our fans jumped on the Wasps bandwagon when it came to town, but many are coming back now.

The thought of City fans turning away and going to Wasps makes me feel unwell so won't get into that, but those that saw Wasps as something of a novelty or a day out (City fans or non City fans) are done with them now I think. If you aren't really into it there's only so many times you can go before you get bored.

Yeah, it hit a nerve with me (no shit). At the time it felt like some fans kind of liked it because the saw it as a way to get one over on SISU, but I did have a few uncomfortable conversations with others when you would remind them that CCFC ended up being what was regarded as collateral damage. There was a huge wave of denial, but then again, when they were being bombarded with free tickets how else were they going to try and justify it?

I don't think the changes in attendances are related at all

I just don't believe that there were fans who swapped in the way that you are asserting.

There are multiple reasons as to why our attendances fell, mainly what was happening on the pitch, but loads of CCFC fans suddenly becoming rugby fans who wanted to watch Wasps- can't see it.

As for Wasps- end of novelty value, they're crap, they have no roots, they have no link to the city- take your pick from many.

A novelty that has worn off. They attracted a lot with free offers at the start and it was setting a value of nil to many consumers. It was always going to decline. You cannot really compare the clubs - we moved out and went from relegations to promotions. Our gates were low as we were declining, you overstate the substitution impact

It's coincidence rather than any direct link I would say. Wasps' gates have been on the decline since the first season in the same way that the team on the pitch has, and many of the attendees had no emotional connection to Wasps, so the prolonged break because of Covid hasn't driven any desire to get back and watch them.

The opposite applies to CCFC since it left the Ricoh in 2019,

Even if there was truth in it, you're talking about over 10,000 people that apparently went from CCFC to Wasps and then back to CCFC again- impossible

The only ones who ever really paid to keep going were the fans from London who already had a connection to them. Whenever they came into school to offer freebies the kids all just binned them

Not sure anyone has said all 10,000 have gone from one side to another. All that has really been suggested is that some of the fans that went over have come back.

You said that the decline in Wasps' attendances happening at the same time as the increase in ours was no coincidence. There's no way that the "some" people you're referring to are as great in number as to have had any influence in that.

You're right that its no coincidence that both clubs are experiencing big swings in support, but the factors at play are the massive feelgood factor with us & results on the pitch, and the opposite seemingly being the case with Wasps. These swings are related to factors specific to each club, they are not connected between the clubs.
