He was at Madrid 10 years and averaged 18 games a season. Looked a good buy on paper but if you looked at it properly nowhere near worth the transfer fee and wages.

They have been signing players that fans would sign rather than the correct players.

I have just seen that Sol Campbell has said the best man for the job is Steve Bruce in a temporary role. We think we all know the real reason Sol doesn’t get the top jobs he thinks he deserves 🤪
Listening to sports program on Manchester radio a lot of talk up there about and I quote “doing it the United way” bringing in the likes of Roy Keane, Wayne Rooney, Gary Neville and Steve Bruce was mentioned and restoring the pride of playing for United none really mentioned who would be top dog or for how long.

It was a bit before my time but isn't that the sort of model Liverpool tried to go with for years and years, to re-create some sort of "Liverpool way". It ended up with them not winning a title for 30 years. Feel like it is a long road back to the top still for United.

I’m not sure what that means. “The united way” seems to have usually involved spending lots of money on players. With the notable exception of the season Scholes, Beckham etc broke into the side.

The ‘boot room’ setup at Liverpool was very successful for a long time but meant when the project failed the structure wasn’t there to adapt. That’s the issue with Man Utd as well; their club structure is shambolic for someone of their stature. Obviously everyone looks at Fergie leaving but just as important was David Gill moving on. They’re yet to adequately replace either.

tbf, part of the problem with Liverpool was they went outside, to Souness, who trashed the team. They revived under Moran and Evans.

I have to say, it's lovely to watch the demise of Utd. As someone who was in secondary school in the early 90s, it was intolerable the amount of grandeur some of my Utd supporting friends had when they started winning everything. For me, the 90s was horrible with the constant Utd success and the gloating that went with it.

I'm therefore pretty happy watching them self-implode.

What gets me their demise is as if it’s a national tragedy, non stop tv & media about it, they are still arguably the fourth best in the country but of course with Liverpool & Man City way ahead it rankles more.

Im at the PSG game Wednesday and am looking forward to Poch v Pep. So I don’t want anything rocking that boat before then.

Similar to when Liverpool’s dominance ended.
I can’t stand all the nostalgic, romantic guff about these teams…these 2 teams more than any other I’d say.

I hope they go for Poch as I can’t see him winning anything there either few elite managers could take PSG to second place in France.

They need to move on, that way is from a bygone era that isn't coming back.

The game has moved on and none of those players listed are professors of world level football. United are in a difficult position, as the current first team has not responded well to the current coaching staff.....who are still in post.
Any of the possible "high level" coaches that MU might want are in jobs and will not want to leave before the end of the season.
Whoever is appointed will need a 5 year contract to sort them out and have the backing to drop Ronaldo or any other high profile players.
