His son has watched him for 3 seasons though. It is good to hear somebody who has an opinion based on watching him for so long :)

So you're mind is made up to the negative effect based on 45 minutes of football? Personally, I don't care about friendlies, the games coming up are the ones that count.

Doyle is a woeful excuse of a footballer, always has been, why would you compare anyone to him

But Doyle was a lot better than Deegan!

Doubt Jennings will play Saturday, he's got to get international clearance first, even if he does get it, he will come off the bench

Why does everybody think kilbane wont play? Surely if he is captain it shows the intention to play him?
When Thomas is fit will he fit into the midfield ? I cant see him playing a full season in midfield , i would rather he play left back
On the captaincy front i would have liked Wood or Jennings

The question is whether he is fit enough to start

And i would think he is, considering he's played in every pre-season game...

Some would argue thats because he needed to get his fitness up but Thorn stated that Kilbane was the fittest player in the squad when he was brought in.

I think too many people see his age as a handicap, yeh he wont play 46 games but at the same time i don't think he's as over the hill as everyone believes him to be.

I know Goalkeepers are continuing to play well into their 40's but whose to say there aren't outfield players out there that can do the same?

You only need international clearance if you come from darkest, deepest Norfolk or the Black Country.

From the offal

"The former Motherwell and Tranmere midfielder has signed a two-year contract with City, awaiting the international agreement, and is the ninth addition to the squad this summer."

Strange that international agreement stuff, but they do say it

They probably couldn't understand a word he said and assumed it wasn't English. Like whenever Jamie Carragher was covering the Euros.

Well surely we are going in the right direction? A fee for Deegan from hibs, Jennings in on a free and he is better!! What more can they do? Good business all round

It's because he was last registered with the SFA. After some hunting due to boredom I came across this.

1. FIFA Regulations governing the Status and Transfer of Players require National Associations to issue an
International Transfer Certificate for any player aged 12 and over who is moving from one National Association
to another including UK borders (this means Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales). It is absolutely essential to
make exhaustive checks on the player and not to accept his/her word that they have permission. Breaches are
dealt with under the provisions of FA Rule E. 1 (b) and E. 1 (d). Individual players and Clubs can face disciplinary
action and Leagues are empowered to take further action which can lead to fines and deduction of points.

Jutkiewicz convinces Jennings to sign

New City midfielder decided on City after chat with pal and former Sky Blues striker

Coventry City’s new signing Steven Jennings revealed he sought Lukas Jutkiewicz’s advice before sealing his move to the Ricoh Arena.

Jutkiewicz had a loan spell at Motherwell in the 2009/10 season where he played with Jennings before the striker moved to the Ricoh Arena.

The forward has since moved on to Middlesbrough, but Jennings said ‘Juke’ couldn’t recommend the club enough and urged him to sign.

The 27-year-old said: “I was good friends with Lukas when he was at Motherwell and I spoke to him about moving to Coventry.

“He said the club was a great club to progress your career at and thought it would be a great move for me as well.

Thank you Juke :D

“He said the club was a great club to progress your career at and thought it would be a great move for me as well.

“It is a great club with a great past and I am here to form part of the present. The move was a no-brainer to be honest and with Lukas giving me that little nudge as well, it made up my mind.

“I am really happy to be here and get this deal done. Obviously there was some negativity last year with the club getting relegated but we can definitely turn it around this year.”

The 27-year old played a crucial part in a successful Motherwell side last year, with the club qualifying for the Champions League.

Jennings was given an extended trial period with the Sky Blues and now he has got the deal, he has set his sights on promotion to the Championship.

He added: “The club have brought in a lot of players over the summer and there will be plenty of competition to get into the side which is always a good thing.

“There are some great characters in the dressing room and the club has great support as well. I have experience at this level with Tranmere so I can definitely help out there.

“I am not messing about here really. I want to be in a promoted side and bounce straight back, through automatic promotion or the play-offs.

“I want to be playing regular football and the fact everyone is aiming for the same thing is great.”
