Bit surprised in some ways, I'd have thought he'd have wanted a move to get a regular place, although I suppose he's played a fair amount this season.

Anyway, pleased about this, as don't think he gets the recognition he deserves all the time.

Decent squad player. He struggled last year (along with Shipley), but he fought his way back into contention, and has looked decent in a lot of games this season (Huddersfield, Reading, Cardiff, Blackpool)

Also a message to everybody else in the squad that if you’re not in the manager’s plans but get your head down in training, go about things the right way and take your opportunity when it comes then there is a path back for you.

Well not really as there is not many in the squad that isn’t contracted - mcfazdean I guess?

Didn't think he would get another contract after last season. There were rumours of a return to League 1. Fair play, he has earned a new contract and still has room for improvement at his age (see McFaz), who said the coaching staff were going to improve him and they have, even though he is no spring chicken.

Another cheap and cheerful solution then. Let’s extend Shipley as well.
I’m afraid you will see more of this with current players having their contracts extended as oppose to any money being spent on new players , ohare and fadz would be the next I would think .MR is looking to protect himself , making sure he has a base of a squad he can work with rather than have players leave and not been able to bring new players in

You say it as a bad thing ! If Fadz gets an extra year and O'Hare signs an extension I'll be very happy. Don't think the majority of the fanbase is expecting large squad rotation in the current climate.

I find this aversion to keeping a (so far) successful squad together baffling...

Quality additions are clearly needed to augment what we already have but continuity is important when you find a successful formula - no need for drastic changes to the squad in our current position.

Like when we gave David Bell a new deal I guess

Contracts puts prices on players and they don’t just drift off for nothing and as long as they continue to be effective then fine

Congrats to him but he needs to become more consistent to be around for all of that. If we make slight upgrades over that time he'll have fallen from being a useful squad member. But he gives his all so hopefully he'll manage it.

I like Allen but not sure it needs the fanfare every time. Come back when they've tied down some players who are more likely to be in demand from other clubs.

Which is fine but just re-emphasises the problem we're going to have every year in this division under the current owners.

Unless you've got Sheikh Wonga as your owner, all clubs in The Championship are going to be vulnerable from either PL clubs or the handful still in receipt of PL parachute payments.

Even for you Grendel that is a stupid comment. Because every contract extension ends up like a David bell scenario. That fact you have had to go back a decade to make the point is telling.

Oh ok Bakayoko, Ben Wilson, max biamou

Exactly he’s hardly going to be swamped with offers. Clearly we have real ambition for promotion this season

Kelly has only a year left should get him tied down for another 4 years just in case Crawley come sniffing next season

Bakayoko was never given an extension, it was an activation of his original contract.

Wilson is a second choice keeper so a cheap contract for someone bang average to sit on the bench.

I believe biamou was a contractual obligation to extend going by what robins said at the time about effecting his budget, but even if I'm wrong on that which I may well be be, most would say he turned out to be a useful squad option.

How about, Godden, Hyam, Dabo, Fadz, going back further tying down the likes of Callum Wilson, McCallum the list goes on? It's a ridiculous argument.

We extended Bakayoko, Robins never said anything about Biamou and if Moore is injured we’d sign another keeper.

Godden it’s absurd to tie him here until 34. McFadzean we offered a deal at the end of the season. Not sure the point on Wilson as I hardly think Allen is going anywhere for £3 million

Are we not even considering promotion then? Perhaps as Dundee United clearly think biamou is rubbish - which he is - we should bring him back again.

I know most people seem to rate him and think he has performed well this season. Sorry to say I just don't see it but I hope he proves me wrong.
