Also a message to everybody else in the squad that if you’re not in the manager’s plans but get your head down in training, go about things the right way and take your opportunity when it comes then there is a path back for you.
I’m afraid you will see more of this with current players having their contracts extended as oppose to any money being spent on new players , ohare and fadz would be the next I would think .MR is looking to protect himself , making sure he has a base of a squad he can work with rather than have players leave and not been able to bring new players inAnother cheap and cheerful solution then. Let’s extend Shipley as well.

Contracts puts prices on players and they don’t just drift off for nothing and as long as they continue to be effective then fine

Like when we gave David Bell a new deal I guess
Which is fine but just re-emphasises the problem we're going to have every year in this division under the current owners.
Even for you Grendel that is a stupid comment. Because every contract extension ends up like a David bell scenario. That fact you have had to go back a decade to make the point is telling.
I like Allen but not sure it needs the fanfare every time. Come back when they've tied down some players who are more likely to be in demand from other clubs.
No sorry it was in response to the comment and I think it’s a good strategyYou say it as a bad thing ! If Fadz gets an extra year and O'Hare signs an extension I'll be very happy. Don't think the majority of the fanbase is expecting large squad rotation in the current climate.
I totally agree , it was in response to the commentI find this aversion to keeping a (so far) successful squad together baffling...
Quality additions are clearly needed to augment what we already have but continuity is important when you find a successful formula - no need for drastic changes to the squad in our current position.
Oh ok Bakayoko, Ben Wilson, max biamou
Kelly has only a year left should get him tied down for another 4 years just in case Crawley come sniffing next season
Bakayoko was never given an extension, it was an activation of his original contract.
Wilson is a second choice keeper so a cheap contract for someone bang average to sit on the bench.
I believe biamou was a contractual obligation to extend going by what robins said at the time about effecting his budget, but even if I'm wrong on that which I may well be be, most would say he turned out to be a useful squad option.
How about, Godden, Hyam, Dabo, Fadz, going back further tying down the likes of Callum Wilson, McCallum the list goes on? It's a ridiculous argument.
