How do you know he opted to go to Stoke? I imagine Brighton decided where he was going.

Pretty sure it was because Stoke were willing to pay more of his wages than we were. Which is pretty much why he won't be coming here in January even if we wanted him.

Only position he can play is middle of a back 3 - and that’s with 2 ball players either side
We’re far better balanced without him, with Hyam at RCB and a left footer in JCS
For all his blood and thunder stuff, he’s pretty crap in possession as we saw last season
Would be an emotional signing, and Robins doesn’t do those (bar Bright!)

I’d have him back in an instant.
He adds strength at the back and a threat up front for set pieces. Plus, he’s an asset with potential sell on if we get him in permanently.
Perhaps offer a deal where we pay his wages and have a contract with a decent sell on for them.
As for us having no money & Robins saying that we have no money:-

2. See above. 4000 x 10 at say £25 per ticket = £1m. Plus some extra F&B maybe, Sky money, less margin of error. Maybe Bright’s wage has given us some space in the budget too. Anyway wouldn’t be surprised if we’re £1m - £2m better on the budget than hoped.
So yeah, I reckon we could afford Osti and one more to give us some depth.

We don’t make £25 a ticket. It’s closer to £10.
We cant afford him, especially permanently. There are other areas we need to strengthen more urgently than centre half too.

While I think he would defiantly be getting minutes for us if he is at the same level as last year its not that straighforward. Firstly you'd want to know why he wasn't getting minutes in the first half of the season, is he even match fit and ready to go? No point coming in for 6 months if the first couple of the months will be essentially a pre-season for him.
The bigger problem is budget. Assuming we've got limited money in the January window there are other areas that need more attention. Of course that requires the right players to be available but I wouldn't like to think we've blown the budget on Osti when we could be better served using the money elsewhere.
Now if its a loan with a permeant signing lined up for when his contract at Brighton ends that again changes things and would need to be taken into consideration.

Not sure I agree. Match day costs are reasonably fixed. Extra stewards and police costs aside with increased attendance, any sales over the projected / budgeted amount should amount to surplus. I don’t know if sponsors / advertising is linked to attendance but I’m sure I read somewhere that it was. I’ll happily concede then that we might get an extra £15 per ticket sake over 14000 or whatever. In anycase, I’m still going to suggest that we have a few quid on the budget pot more than we expected.
Extra TV income, extra ticket sales, extra programs / F&B (car parking?) and saved a bit on Bright wage. I’ll punt about a million - which in this league us chicken feed but to us it might sign Osti and pay another loanee.

Just going off the clubs numbers over several years at the Ricoh (accounts and statements from the club). Was about £9.50 now about £11 IIRC.
I agree we’ve probably got a bit more than budgeted but the club have already got their excuses out about unexpected costs. Ultimately ticket sales are irrelevant compared to the owner putting funds in when we’re at this level. One decent player on a free probably eats up most of that increase. We’re already a top ten club for support. It’s just a question of whether these owners can make the club work at this level or if we need someone else IMO.

I feel like JCS is a bit of a dud, and the fact he is left footed seems to trump everything else for some people. For the record, I have a lot if question marks over Maatsen as well.
I would definitely bring back Leo, but funnily enough, part of me also thinks that is for the attacking outlet he offers at set pieces. We are so shit at them.

Agree with your first sentence but I like Maatsen and only think he plays badly when JCS is playing as he feels he needs to cover for him.
Ostigard has lots of positives and I would take him back if possible with a view to replacing McFadzean in the longer term. He has to develop his game particularly his passing but the potential is great.

Fadz has more goals from set pieces this season than Ostigard did all last season. In fact Ostigard only has 4 senior goals in his career.
He is a nuisance at set pieces yes but 99% of the time squanders any opportunities. 2 goals from 40 attempts last season - definitely an area he needs to improve on but plenty of time for him.

Hyam is the real useless one at set pieces.
It isn't really the point though. With Ostigard he wins the knock on nearly every time. At the moment we are completely impotent at set pieces, any improvement on that is good in my eyes.

I actually think Hyam has stepped up a bit. Stats back me up, 10 attempts over half a season (so on course for same as Østigård last year) 50% on target. Still no goals though.
We have such little threat though. The likes of Sheaf and the strikers should be causing far more trouble than they do, especially Györkeres.

I think against Huddersfield Hyam had 3 headers and should have scored at least one of them easily.
I agree with your other points though. Imagining players like Sheaf on the score sheet just seems like a fantasy.

Sure, he enjoyed his time here and he got on great with his team mates, but what i got from his media interviews, is that this kid is super ambitious, and he wants to constantly play and improve (hence the increasingly better loan moves), and eventually get a big club contract and be fighting for silverware...he might be deluded there, but like i said, he's ambitious.
IMHO we can't offer him what he wants...i'd love to be proved wrong though.

I was at game v Millwall. Maatsen was a class above every other player on pitch. I would say the Millwall no 2 was impressive too but Maatsen to me is clearly a special player with huge potential.

That Millwall no 2 was good. Always liked Bradshaw since his Walsall days in that team with Rico Henry and Romain Sawyers. He's a right prick when he plays against you but one you'd love in your team.

I think this is a case where stats tend to fail us. Any headers in the opposition box tend to just hit Hyam, there's no real conviction to his efforts. I would much rather have the ball fall on the head of Ostigard over Hyam.

Heard from a reliable source that he was caught playing indoor adult crazy golf with Hamer's Mrs. No chance he is coming back unless we sell Hamer in Jan. Catch 21 situation really, i'd much prefer Ostigard than Hamer, but seems we can't have the 2 at the same time. Osti was apparently going to sign for us permanently last summer as Hamer was meant to be off to Rangers - but the deal never happened as Hamer got booked for speeding on the way to his medical. This is 100% true off my mate who is the boss of the head steward. All makes sense now.

Definitely worth a 250k bid as he's out of contract in the summer. Speculate to accumulate. Would be worth 10 times that with a 3 or 4 year contract the day he signs.
