Of course fans on forums are irrelevant, including you and me, basically because we know very little. Nonetheless it is interesting and reassuring to some extent if a reasonable proportion of their fans were impressed with him. I'd prefer that to them all thinking he was rubbish. But obviously it's pretty inconclusive. I haven't seen much of Bapaga, although I did see him in a League Cup game on Ifollow during lockdown when he looked OK.

As for Biamou why are you still so interested by him?

I’m not interested in biamou - I was accused before of obsessing with Haynes and Bigi - I am just fascinated how people can gk to absurd level of hyperbole over footballers that are utter rubbish

Are you talking about Biamou or Bapaga there?

Something to do with supporting the club the players play for and wanting them to do well.

Let’s not forget the fans’ choice, Andy ‘the best manager since Jimmy Hill’ Thorn

Difference between wanting someone to do well and being delusional and not accepting when they arent good enough

That's fair enough, though I'm failing to see where that is happening on this thread about Bapaga.

Young players from our Acadamy and youth teams are often treated appallingly from various so called supporters on this website. Players like Burge, Haynes, Connor Thomas, Stevenson still get slagged there are others might not have made super stardom here but all are being paid to play football at various levels throughout the professional game. The continuing digs at Jordan Shipley too And those who have reached top division stardom Callum Wilson, James Maddison, Gary McSheffrey all had plenty of “knockers” on here. Young hopefuls when they get to 16 need to look at their futures very carefully imo.

Think many fans forget - to reach the standard that they are playing including the Thomas/ Stevenson/Burge- Fewer than 1% of players make it in the professional game - the lads that have made it to that standard have done exceptionally well in the cut throat of youth football

They can be superb relative to me, but then again Razor Ruddock would still be superb compared to me.

You are 100% correct in fact its about 1% of those who start the Academy journey at 9/10 year old to get to scholarship and then those that do it’s not a lot more that earn a pro contract at 18 and its then the real work begins to stay on the gravy train.

I feel what is much worse is the attitude of some fans at matches to young players. There is little worse in my mind than to see home fans getting on the back of a young player trying to make their way in the game. Imagine what it is like as an 18 year old to have people shouting at you that you are hopeless.

it's tough, but unfortunately it's the modern game. I've never given Shipley stick at a match but I was scathing of him when watching last season BCD games and he was just ambling around throwing his arms in the air like he was Ronaldo or something.

But why and I’m not saying you do by the way say it on here, we’ve all probably groaned and thrown our arms in the air when players drop a clanger, poor pass etc, etc. but some of the crass even cowardly comments on here, why ?
And whether it’s me or not there seems to be sometimes the most vicious even personal comments aimed at the young ones.

About Bapaga, id say hes now 5th choice ahead Tavares, even games time in national league is higher standard than under 23s, even though hes been banging them in.

Hope Walker moves in this window (frees up money to strengthen elsewhere), he just doesnt fit into the way we play. Would like to see Bapaga and or Tavares as 4th/5th choices.

Many of our expert fans rate players like Biamou. The fact is they are improving results wise

Not sure what you're looking at but Grimsby's results have been awful over last couple of months. Not really down to Bapaga either way.

Ive done my fair share of sarcastic comments about players on here but I have never ever slated a player at a match although I have said for fucks sake quite a lot of times, passions run high at times and the red mist descends because we want our team to win, the likes of Shipley does frustrate the hell out of me but he seems to have given up and accepted he's not good enough so when he is out on the pitch our fans see his lacklustre efforts and sound off at the frustration of a player that upped his game in league 1 and then regressed in the championship.
Bapaga, when I have seen him play, can be quite exciting but being young is still learning the game at pro level so if he keeps striving to improve and keep a fire in his belly he will be a decent player when he matures ....hopefully

He was ripping Gillingham to shreds in that league cup match last year. If you remember they ended up flooring him and he dislocated his shoulder. There's no way i'm giving up on him yet, he's 19!

Linked with the Drysdale thread as well about younger players. Arsenal have just cancelled the loan of their defender at Ross County (20 years old) and rejected a bid from Rangers for him to loan him out for 18 months to Motherwell. The Arsenal youth report says he's very much one for their future, now in 18 months time he'll have had 2 seasons at SPL level and will be 22 years old and they are saying he's going to be a contender for their squad.

On this forum we are writing players off at 19 if they haven't made our first team. Bizarre.

Spot on. Said this a number of times, young players development varies hugely for a variety of different reasons. Just because one player gets into the team at 19 doesn't mean that's the bar for everyone.

They've gone from top and about 5 points clear to 10th. Coincidentally Will was dropped when they were top

According to soccer base he has made 8 starts and they lost 4 of them? All 4 in a row I think?

I agree, although the frustrating thing with this one is he was hailed as the next big thing, but doesn't seem to have kicked on as hoped... yet.

And I can't help thinking shades of Andy Ducros. Hopefully it's not the case, and it ends up more a late developer.

Harry Clarke from Arsenal, very good, now going to Hibs on an 18 month loan. We could have done worst than made a move for him..

It's strange that the fact that he first played for us at 16 seems to count against him in some people's eyes. I thought he looked skillful against Gillingham if a little lightweight but that is to be expected at ghat age. Not seen him since so have an open mind.
