What are you trying to get pay raised up to?

Don't really want to discuss it further on here tbh , we've had several workers in the shit for posts on social media in the last couple weeks .

All il say is , in line with other local authorities , and don't listen to what you're being fed by local media

My uncle now thinks I'm on 50k a year

I get that, but I do carry out union work as part of the day job. If you want to talk more by PM feel free, if not also cool

Total amount paid to councillors last year was £1,068,007.55

54 councillors.

£19,777.92 per councillor.

This is tax-free, isn't it shmmeee?

They aren’t all paid equally. If you have responsibility you get an allowance. The base wage is £14.5k. And no it’s not tax free AFAIK, counts the same as any other income.

Actual figures available here, for those interested...

Duggins and Lucas over 40k, but presumably full time for that (or so I'd hope).

14.5k as a side-hustle isn't a bad knock though, plus preferential treatment for planning permission etc... :)

“side hustle”

Crack on and do it if it’s such a wheeze.

It's a lot fucking easier than emptying bins for a living.

I've been a Labour voter my whole life, most of this bunch aren't fit to use the name.

HMOs, dodgy planning decisions, fucking the club over, and now making up bullshit over the bin strikes. Bollocks to them mate, let's call it for what it is to most of them - a handy sideline.

These aren't emptying bins. These are the skilled class 2 and 3 drivers that stay in the cab whilst the oppo wheels the bin 6 ft from the end of your drive to tip half of it in the back and half on the floor.

Well done, you've learnt how to add a gif, at lest there might be an admin job out there for you after the council sack everyone.

I'd gladly have this discussion with you in person although I fear you'd quickly back out of telling me what I am face to face .. im at every away game , more than welcome to try
Ooh threats now. Grow up.
At nearly 50 I'm ok thanks I don't want to fight you. You might even win, I don't care, but thankfully I've long grown past the playground.

What I would happily tell you is I disagree with your stance you are wrong to hold the council to ransom just because you all think as a Labour council they should be a soft touch. I'll even tell you I disagree with unions, but you carry on.

They're on wheels and then lifted in. I do get it, binmen in the 80s were always off with bad backs as they had to lift them (from the garden not the end of the drive) and then tip them in. Thankfully we have machinery to do it, but walking and wheeling is the not the same as lifting and carrying.

I don't know the answer, so I'd be delighted to be enlightened as to how their pay compares with WCC.

Tell you what away from the nonsense talk , the best thing I could do is when I do a Leamington route on Tuesday have you come and shift the bins that I do , far bigger than domestic bins .. and then ask you how light you think they are mate ..

I'm more than happy for you to show me how easy my job is

That's a genuine proposal

Shift 3 on your own Il buy you a pint

They are on wheels so they must be light , as are cars too btw 😉

Sorry I'm working Tuesday, although I don't want the others on the picket line having a go at you for breaking rank.

Your posts resemble that of a 15 year old.

Genuine question, why don't you get another driving job? Can easily walk into a job paying 30k+.

So if we're accepting that the same job would pay more elsewhere, here's a genuine question too. Why do the Council think that they shouldn't pay it?

They would and probably should when they can't get anyone to do it for the money on offer. If other jobs of the same nature pay more and they lose or are in danger of losing them then pay will organically increase without the need to hold people to ransom or at the expense of residents.

As NW pointed out we don't know what WDC pay, but if this goes through I'd be amazed if we weren't next if Coventry suddenly get more and where does it end? All has to be paid for.

We're also told that the NHS need more, armed forces need more, the police and other frontline workers need more. BSB was on here last week saying teachers going for 8% more too.

At the same time bills are going up, we didn't get a payrise here last year or this year, but are thankful to still be going after the pandemic as many more have suffered. It all has to be paid for and all from the private sector and smacks of greed.

This strike in particular is not because they were badly paid, but because Fred up the road got more in Brum so now they want it too.

Tell you what, recently you’re framing yourself as a bit of a prick.
Possibly so, but that's your opinion and my responses were lighthearted until called a Tory Twat and offered a fight!

I don't work for the council, so can't answer your question. There's definitely perks to that job he's not disclosing to carry on earning such little pay where he can easily walk into a job paying 10 grand more.

Btw, I have stated further back in this thread that I hope he gets his pay rise.

Not really lighthearted , we can all disguise a response as being lighthearted but the reality is different..

You are ofcourse entitled to your opinion , and I was probably a little rash in my response , so for that I'm sorry
