Wish people would work out that the best way to marginalise the SNP is vote Labour. Sure, not immediately, but get a Labour UK government and half the point of the SNP vanishes.

As an aside, local authorities are gearing up to deal with the government's white paper on levelling up, that's along imminently. How that goes could define what happens going forward.

I honestly believe it’s Johnson’s intention to try to level things up around the country which is a good thing…not sure he had a plan about how to do it and pay for it. Goves on the case…with no cash spare by all accounts

There are a fair few who are wedded to it whatever the best thing socially and economically, when looked at objectively. Hence why it happened in the first place!
Undoubtedly there’s a Brexit cult who will hold onto it regardless. There’s also the issue for Boris that a lot of that cult are literally dying out whereas the younger generation many of who will be voting for the first time at the next GE didn’t have a vote in the referendum, didn’t have a vote in 2019 see brexit and Boris for exactly what they are. Even with a brexit cult remaining there’s another dynamic shift in registered voters that doesn’t weigh in the Tories favour.

The white paper and response, in normal circumstance, would define whether he had a chance of staying in power or not.

atm however, it's all an aside.

No matter how incompetent he is, Johnson, as a populist, will always retain a degree of support well beyond the Tories' natural base. The nationalism and anti immigrant sentiment will be the focus in the coming months.

None of Johnson's potential successors have anything like the charmisa that he does, (although personally I don't understand how so many people don't see through this). That is why the Tories will try so hard to hang onto him as leader despite all the chaos of his leadership.

However, Johnson’s charisma really isn't going to be enough when inflation and, in particular, the energy prices really start to bite. When many of the people who voted Tory for the first time because of Brexit can't heat their homes or feed their children, all the flag waving and anti immigrants rhetoric just isn't going to cut it. And, of course, now they can't blame any of it on the EU. Ultimately it's the economy and people's living standards that are the determining factor in how most people vote.

Is the reason Grenners claimed no one cares about parties is that no one has ever invited him to one?

Has he sued Earlsdon yet?

David you say I lead a fantasy life and you are the political guru - I’m more than happy to do this. Actually I’ll make it easy for you I’ll put a thousand in and you put £500 in - I’ll get an account set up on the forum so we have £1,500 in it. If you win you get my grand to your nominated charity. If I win I get the initial £500 to my charity and you top up at the time of the result

You are a gobshite because if you say yes I’ll do it tonight

So tell the forum - are you a gobshite or not? Now if you are proud enough to admit you haven’t the money - I have - I respect this and you tell me what you can afford. I will then double that in tbe created account and I’ll put the money in first

over to you Dave

It’s strange how people make noise but when push comes to shove it’s a lot of hot air

I think if Boris Johnson remains he won’t win a majority but he will have the most seats in parliament - I’m prepared to back this others well - they are all a bit reluctant

Moving on from clowns who I have on ignore.

Boris has seemed to have damaged the tories so much that if you look at the data behind the headline figures Labour now lead the tories on things such as immigration.

It's mad

Of course they don’t. They’re about revenge and making people not on benefits feel good.

Revenge sounds a bit strong shmmeee. The underlying thought process doesn’t appear unreasonable although weird that supporting info hasn’t been released. If I was out of work I’d expect to get a job outside of my preference/expertise to earn rather than have benefits. I’m fully able to so why shouldn’t I ?! I reckon most people would as a majority prefer not to be on benefits (which are fuck all) so I doubt the policy change will make a huge difference. I know a fair few who did exactly that, especially during the pandemic and as a nation/western world we have staff shortages so I’m struggling to understand the uproar

It does feel like this has been brought in to divert attention from the shitshow in government though

Edit - an easy win would be to say any savings (as indicate above I think they’d be minimal) would be diverted to boost the amounts given to those that genuinely are can’t work
