After his miss late on against stoke which was easier to actually get on target, I’ve kind of just given up and accepted the fact he isn’t going to score goals for us.

It’s a fatal flaw in an otherwise brilliant football player, who does bring absolutely everything else to the team.

Give O'Hare Shipley's ball striking ability and you have a high-end europa league player.

How about that.

Then why has Shipley missed 5/6 huge chances in the last two weeks?

His scuff in the box today was as bad if not worse than any O'Hare miss for a long, long time.

For the O'Hare naysayers. If you were Robins, who would you replace him with in our squad?

We've seen Shipley can't do that role, we've seen that Allen can't do it either.

Every argument and debate on this and other ‘what can the manager do’ talk comes down to him needing support he won’t get while fans go ‘happy to be here’. Aim for 21st then better make sure you get it.

What do you mean?

He’ll get a pittance every window, Boddy will trot some stuff out about Stoke and people will shrug their shoulders when we’re again equipped with a skeleton crew of a squad.

Let’s be honest, the form since the first dozen games has gone to a point a game.

Wasn't really my point mate. I was asking people who they'd replace O'Hare with in our squad because there are plenty in this squad who think we already have better alternatives.

I like O'Hare, busy, works hard, creates chances, draws plenty of fouls (i.e. relieves pressure, wins free kicks in dangerous areas, etc.) but he has glaring problems with his game, has zero composure, can't finish for shit & always seems to miss hit balls he should be pinging about. He'll never go on to play in the prem (unless we fluke a promotion) until he makes massive strides in his game. Younger, better players available, they'll cost more, yes, but they have a far better chance of making an impact at a higher level. Realistically, I think he's another we'll leave behind as we progress (just like Dabo).

We lack goals throughout the side, and putting it all on O'Hare is a little unfair despite all the chances he fluffs. All the CB's are guilty of missing clear cut headers (e.g. Hyam, 3 in 1 game against Huddersfield). The CM midfielders don't really add anything either.

There isn’t anyone. Chris Wilder can call on Balogun to unlock a defence-all Robins can do is alternate between one and two up front.

He needs funds

Absolutely agree. We should have someone to play alongside or even push O'Hare for that position.

Unfortunately due to our constraints, we had to gamble on a live wire called Bright.

We’re going to have this problem pretty much every season in one position or another. What’s so frustrating here is you can see how close we are, you can see what we’re missing and it isn’t much but it’s costing us.

I haven’t seen us outplayed in a good while. I have seen us lose against the ‘good’ sides despite them looking very average or just poor on the day, pretty much all because we have no cutting edge.

Our squad had two glaring weak spots. Lwb permanent/cover for maatson. And an AM to replace, rest, rotate with o hare.

We've address one (will see how that goes) but will we address the other. Allen, Shipley are not the answer. Is JJ? Probably not so it's going to have to be we put up with it and o hare starts getting clinical or we wait til someone externally is brought in.

And this is why I'm getting frustrated and ranting on here about o hare. I've been to 6 away games this season and we've won 1, Hull. The others we've battered Barnsley, Blackburn, sheff utd, hudds and now boro and we've got 3 points. The amount of misses in those games combined are enough to win 15 games

Oh and it's not all o hare.
Gyok pen Barnsley
Allen numerous chances
Hyam vs Huddersfield.
O hare vs Huddersfield
Gyok refuses to shoot when he rounded the keeper and Blackburn then getting sythed down
Sheaf today through one on one and trying to cut back past the defender
Shipley today
Jcs today. These are all glorious opportunities spurned. Law of averages says it can't keep happening, can it?

It’s a question of quality and not much else

You’re a fucking muppet mate. I cannot wait for the ‘humble pie’ post from you in the future. Sure I saw the same thing about Sheaf from you, and possibly Moore?

The thing is the 'good sides' are more established than we are, we have a shite budget and are competing with the good sides but every time we play these good sides their quality is there for all to see BUT we still manage to compete and thats down to Robins and his team how they have assembled this squad, yes we could do with upgrades but that takes time and more importantly money, remember only a few years back we were on our arse so IF we keep improving by getting lucky with a couple more players and our illustrious owners decide to invest and we keep hold of a good management team we get to the promised land. Not a knock at your reply just a continuation

The owners are not going to invest a penny and much the opposite, they’re going to help themselves as and when a player goes for a big fee. Robins is delivering mid table on a basement budget, give him a middling one and we turn games like yesterday into the heavy wins they should be.

There are a number of Simon Moore, that was before he even played a match & Ben Sheaf in particular knockers on here very quiet at the moment, questioning wasting £750k on him, he’s probably worth five times worth that now.

Good post. O’hare is an excellent technical footballer. Works hard as well and very pleasing on the eye and you do understand if you seen him for the first time why you would think he is a very good footballer. However, his lack of composure under pressure is a concern (finishing and final delivery for example)

There is no doubt that the coaches will be working on this with o’hare and Allen but it’s just not a strength on theirs and unfortunately there could be a time sadly where we move on as a club. It’s up to them but at this present time they warrant a place in that team as they work the system well and we have no other options. We are where we are.

I don’t think the scouts at other clubs would be banging their managers doors down to pursue o’hare. If they were after an attacking midfielder they would be looking at the big picture of assists and goals over his career and at present it’s not great.

I do wonder with O’hare if another manager would continue on this course?
