Unlike most birds, owls make virtually no noise when they fly.

More facts incoming later.

Unlike regular owls, barn owls do not hoot. Instead, these owls are known to communicate with each other through screams.

Barn owls also make hissing noises at intruders and predators who attempt to disturb its nest. These sounds will last anywhere between 2 to 4 seconds long.

Definitely one of the more interesting owl facts.

Thanks for this Greggs, I've almost completely forgotten about our lack of transfer activity.
As a caveat to fact 2, did you know that a mouse can kick an acorn 65 ft with enough velocity to knock an owl unconscious, in order to bring the owl into range it must first step on a twig

Barn Owls eat an average of 1000 mice a year.

Many often use barn owls as a form of pest control from small insects and mammals such as mice. When owls hunt for small mammals, they swallow them whole in one piece.

On average, owls can eat around 12 mice per night.

How’s that for practical owl facts?

Superb Owl facts #5, the finale.

Owls can rotate their necks 270 degrees., not the rumored 360. A blood-pooling system collects blood to power their brains and eyes when neck movement cuts off circulation.

Fascinating.

Notable word being 'can'. Quick owl side fact, owls are lazy and only work 2 days a week.
The fact you took time out of your night to work that out means the world to me and the owl i hope to one day own.

Our late daughter was mad about owls. She used to collect their regurgitations, rinse them out and find out about their diet from the bones which were then left. Amazing that they bring the waste backup rather than shit it out.
