Unbelievable that, do you remember when if the ball hit your arm it was handball no questions

Yep, law changed this year.
It's technically the correct decision but the law is just awful. Beyond belief that when changing the law they couldn't see the obvious nonsense like this that would occur.

Would love to know why the ref didn’t deem it handball at the time

Surely if you control the ball with a hand it should automatically a handball?
