Two callers in a row who yet again were given several minutes of airtime and didn't even go to the game.

We sounded good/crap.

Well whoopee do.

I want to hear the views of likeminded fans who actually went to the game and are in the only position to comment truly and accurately on the proceedings, not two people who sat in their armchairs and listened to CWR! Half the time Geoff Foster doesn't even get the names of the players right!

Or even the score.

The views of the people who were at the game are:

"We were good" and "We were crap".

Did anybody mention "time to gel" on CWR?

Of course we need time to gel, that's obvious to anyone.

They did.

We also had Ron Farmer co-commentating and reliving football in the 60's for the whole 90 mins.

Chief Commentator!
Was one of them brinner? Sounded like him (apologies if it wasn't!)

As I've put on other other posts, In the end, a good point earnt! Poor first half with a second half recovery. Good finish by Elliott, solid defending by Wood and Malaga, poor game for Brown (again).*Part of me hopes Brown comes good, but I can't see it happening anytime soon.

I think what frustrates long standing fans is that the faces change, the league changes but it's the same traits. We are a little cynical that a new season will be any different. Hopefully this will be the year

Enjoyed the bloke at the end who said he was pissed but thought it was a good performance, A case of being there but not I guess!! PUSB

Feels different to me: some real battling characters in Jennings, Elliott, Malaga and the returning Wood. I also liked a few of Bartons tackles-he won one with a studs up effort, and nearly killed the opposition player with the one he was booked for! So much for "shirks challenges", eh PNE? I'm not saying he can tackle, but he darn well tries!

First half was rubbish. I thought they really battled in the second half. Richie on the radio was the one that was embarrassing. "I'm sorry, I don't care what anyone says".

The guy who kept getting Take That song titles into the conversation was fab!! George I think it was. Wonder how much he was getting from a bet for that?? Stuart Linnell didnt even notice - if he did then he kept quiet!! Definately the best caller of the night - made me laugh driving home anyway

I actually like the new Little Mix single, so i'm really in trouble.

Trip to a clinic in Switzerland and a nice cup of "special" tea on it's way to me soon I think.

One twat on the phone in who didn't even go to the game had the balls to say that he thought that the City support during the game was rubbish!!!! Not as rubbish as his support from his armchair:jerkit:.
Surely it is easy to "vet" some of the complete morons off the programme as they all go through a minion pre going "on air"-simple questions like "did you actually go todays game because if you didn't then nobody gives a flying fart about your opinion?" or "sorry you are not allowed to partake in the phone in because last time you were on you nearly talked as much shite as Stuart Linnell!"
See, it's not too hard - come on CWR producers lets try to raise the bar a little, if not then get Rob Gurney back on board at least he was a Sky Blue.
Good point by the way tonight even if we were robbed of a perfectly good "goal" by the lino.

Cohen would not approve: make it up to him by having him as the soundtrack to your special moment in Switzerland. Probably be just right for slipping away to ;)

Its apparent that the PEN 15 that is Linnell is finally realising Thorn isn't up to the job. Unfortunately he has had such a luv-in for months, he will find it hard to backtrack. It really is pathetic hear him say all of a sudden there is no luv-in, and he knows AS A FACT that the majority of fans are behind Thorn (he claims the entire city of Coventry are!)

As for the other commentator Ron Farmer, he was from the time cov were last in this level - so hardly "a legend" simply a former player. Kept going on and on about how it was in the good old days, very very dull - hopefully they don't have him on again!

As he is a contract journo, surely its time they got someone in who is not so obnoxious. If he is trying to do a jeremy kyle / James Whale - he is failing miserably.

First half - a farce, second half played well for a while, but YET AGAIN simply cannot hang on to a lead!

NOT A CHANCE IN HELL OF PROMOTION if they keep this level of play up!

Same as last season, but now instead of competing with teams like birmingham or cardiff, we are "COMPETITIVE" with crewe and yeovil!

First home game only 12k, playing like that it will be gates of 8-9k

Thorn - sorry chap but you simply have to go.

Tomorrow would be nice, but being spineless you wont

Why the hell not?! Jeez when does it get easy then when we are in the southern conference?
Come on this league should be a pushover ffs. Get a grip peoples and start demanding better, not mediocrity. :slap:

Stuart Linnell is clueless I'm sorry to say.

When Ron Farmer pointed out that we should have won 2-1 because the Malaga header clearly went over the line, Linnell pointed out that Richard Wood cleared one off the line so that was equalled out.

How on earth is a ball over the line (a goal) the same as someone clearing the ball off the line?

Didn't pick up on the George Take That thing, but then I don't like Take That and have no idea of even half the names of their songs anyway, so that went straight over my head.

Ricky was embarrassing, but then that call was followed up by someone saying we did really well and that he thought we played well but he didn't go to the game either!!!:facepalm: Can't CWR just ask the callers if they went to the game or not when they ring? If they didn't they can just be moved down the pecking order and callers who actually went can go to the top of the pile and be spoken to first.

Can I just add that I didn't go to the game last night either, but that the ball definitely sounded over the line from where I was sitting.

The idea that if he doesn't share your lack of faith in him it makes him 'spineless' is of course ridiculous.

We are in this league because that's how good we are. It's our level. Also very few teams get out first time of asking including teams with better players and bigger finances.

To think this league is a pushover is either naive or arrogant or both.

I demand arrogance and a sense of entitlement from our fans: oh look, my wish came true!

Personally I agree the first half was really poor and the Blades could have been two up. However the second half was very different. I thought it was one of the better performances for a long time. There was lots of mentions for Wood, who did have a great game. But I thought Jennings started to feel his feet, and really gelled the side together. So lovely passes to get us moving. I was very disappointed we could not hang on, would have been a great three points. For the first time for ages I actually feel optimistic we could have a half decent season and be up there at the end.

psgm1, get your facts right pal. Ronnie Farmer played in what is now the championship, won it with City, won this division with city and then played in the top division for us. Stuck away a lot of goals for us. Brilliant player, coached at the club, helped develop some tremendous players for us. & still lives in the city and supports the club. You're talking out of your arse. What have you done lately? Apart from talk negative bollox.

Totally agree Ronnie Farmer was a class player, best penalty taker I've ever seen!!

Totally agree with all the posts about the caller RICCCCCKY. What a twat, i listened on my way home from game and thought PRICK. Then 5 minutes into his call he announced he didnt go to the game. I was so mad i went into the kitchen and slung my strawberry muffin across the room and it stuck to the window. F###ing livid, and hungry.

Think I can understand where Paxman is coming from, he isnt saying it will be easy(well actually he is but i think there is more to what he says), isnt saying we should win every game, but if we accept a mediocre standard then thats what we will achieve.

By League 1 standards.........

we have the best facilities bar none
we have better crowds than most
we have potentially a better squad than most
we are able to pay better wages than most and attract better players because of it
we have better training facilities than most other clubs (if not all) in the division
we have a bigger squad than most
we have a better academy set up than nearly all

what we need is the results and success ............ we have, despite a lot of off field stuff, a lot going for the team

we should not set up for mediocrity in this division, as fans we shouldnt accept that. No game is easy but we should have a resolute confidence and desire in achieving a result. Setting our standards too low or accepting mediocre performance is not going to achieve the results. We, the management, the players, have to instill high standards and confidence into the team to get out of this League. We shouldnt fear anyone, we should go out expecting to win and knowing how to, only accept being beaten by a better side on the day. A little controlled arrogance and self belief is a positive.

None of that guarantees us success but it will gain us more than accepting mediocrity. For far too long we have accepted the mediocre in everything at CCFC - time to set standards higher for all involved

Skyblueupnorth/skyblueman, don't post much but felt someone had to defend Ron Farmer. Apologies for coming across as a 'keyboard warrior.' But the stuff about Farmer was out of order. Ron Farmer is a very decent bloke into the bargain, had one or two encounters with him when he coached kids teams years ago. Shame I was at game as I would have liked to have heard him!

Anyone who thinks this league "should be a pushover" is seriously deluded. No one has ever won it easily. It will be a battle from start to finish and I actually believe this season we've got a few players who look like they're ready to battle.

He is s decent bloke but someone to interview at half time, not to have commentating on the whole match.

With all due respect he did not know the player's names.

Not his fault CWR's
