By all accounts he’s a different player in training.
The one he hit a couple of weeks ago was outstanding, he’s definitely improved recently IMO.

Take it you didn’t go to the Stoke match then he had a cracking shot into the top corner that their keeper pulled off a really good save.

The whole debate about him is becoming tiresome. The same criticism is labelled at him game after game. It's not just like he is out of form in front of goal, two and a half seasons he's been the same. He's brave on the ball in some respects but isn't brave enough to take chances and actually be a matchwinner. Often looks like he would prefer to be fouled than take a shot. He simply has to contribute more in terms of goals and assists or needs to be sold in my view.

Shipley, Hamer and Allen have missed some absolute sitters in recent weeks. Even Sheaf fumbled his one on one at Middlesbrough.
The whole midfield loves missing a sitter.
It's a mental thing. They are panicking. It has snowballed unfortunately and will take a while to change.
Even at Peterborough when we scored 4, we missed loads. That will play on the mind of many of them.

It’s definitely mental across the team, you could see today is taking an extra touch or trying to dribble it in instead of whacking it when the chance came.

Lack of goals outside the strikers is such a huge problem. O'Hare should be targeting 10 a season. Hamer probably 5-7 & Sheaf a couple. Our wing backs don't contribute enough goals either. We're too heavily reliant on Godden & Gyökeres for goals. I suspect it's maybe why he's persisting with Shipley, because he can at least shoot and is already on the same number of goals as O'Hare.

Totally agree. We are totally reliant on Godden and Gyokeres to score every game and it’s unrealistic to expect them to be able to score every game. Your midfield (not including Attacking Mid) should be getting combined 8 goals a season. They didn’t record them back then but I’m sure Championship Michael Doyle or even David Bell achieved more goals and assists than Callum O’Hare.
Eitherway we need to take the burden off Gyok and Godden.
Shipley’s performance (or lack of it) was summed up in one minute when he ambled slowly along and watched Viktor chase back 60 yards to make a block for a corner. It never once crossed his mind that he should be doing that job. A minute later Viktor was scoring at the other end. Not sure Shipley moved 30 yards in that time.
He did a good job in leagues 1 & 2 for us but isn’t close to being championship standard, not does he make up for it with energy or commitment. It literally is a waste of a shirt. It’s been a failed experiment bringing him back in that position, when Allen, Jones or Maatsen would all bring so much more (or even better, start with 2 up front at home).
On Maatsen, he did ok on the left as usual but was clueless when he switched to the right (not surprising, I doubt he’s ever played there). That switch was the point at which we lost any cohesion last night, it all just drifted away after that (bar the flurry in added time).

I don't know what the answer is because O'Hare gives us so much, but we need more goals from other sources.

Last summer we got a coach for defensive positioning in didn’t we? I think we need one who can teach movement in the box and final ball.

It will be for rose though and he played well and deserves a run for me
Why? The back 3 are a long way from being our biggest problem.
Fadz is the slowest and least mobile of the four, good backup though.
Madness persisting with Shipley though based on that logic as 9 times out of 10 it looks like we're playing with 10 men.
Another AM to support O'Hare is desperately needed in the summer.

I agree O’Hare is a great player with fantastic technical ability and work rate… but goals and assists are critical part of the number 10 role. It’s like saying he’s a great fisherman - he just can’t catch any fish.

He creates Plenty of chances two sitters handed on a plate against QPR and last night and both were missed
It’s odd as people have often defended dross like Rosario and latterly Biamou (even Waghorn) as they are strikers who offer the team “more than just goals”

On the flip side, you won't have a bad word to say about O'Hare's finishing when he has 2 in his last 67 games and plays as either the second or third most advanced player on the pitch. You can't give it out and then not expect people to highlight it the other way. If Biamou had that record and missed some of the chances, you would (rightly) be tearing into him at every given opportunity, and probably still would be.
O'Hare is ten times the player that Max ever could be, he's an asset and he does a whole lot right. I wouldn't want him dropped as the alternatives are a drop off. His finishing and goal scoring record is abysmal. They aren't mutually exclusive.

Shipleys not good enough in midfield it would seem. For me it was the volley he had where he went at with his left foot…it was a difficult chance made impossible by him unable to use his right.
Having said that..looked good at LWB.

Strikers are predominantly there to score goals, o hare is not even a proper number 10 his role is far more than that and most of the drive and attacking intent go through him

Matter of opinion, I don’t think he is. Madine will bully many defenders, he may be a twat but he is one of the better pure target men in the division. Nothing came from it though, we dealt with all the second balls which is what you’ve got to do with those type of players. Fadz would not have made a difference last night. He is decent enough on the bench but is definitely fourth choice.

Buried that one when he was offside in the first half as well. Just confidence. Also I’m not making excuses for our players but Robins was saying pitch wasn’t/isn’t good so the odd shank or miss kick has got to be expected
Midfield as a whole needs to chip in far more though and Rose and Hyam need to be better at set pieces…Rose free header first half was poor. JCS doesn’t appear to get on the end of many either…strange as he’s a powerful lad
