Take shipleys place as he should now be given a run by robins as he cannot still be treated like a China doll.
I agree, he needs to be given a couple of starts to see what he can do. He hasn't looked out of place in any of his cameos.

I think we've under used him but it doesn't help we don't really play with wide men as such - he has had to mostly play bit part cameo's at wing back and some have been hit and some miss in the very limited minutes he has had,

I would have liked to see him given a start in the ACM role with COH as opposed to Shipley/Allen....etc,,,,however just don't think Robins is going to do that unless we have a real injury crisis sadly - given his limited minutes cannot really see him being retained which is a shame.

We have been struggling all season for a goal-scoring midfielder and he we have a player who has a first team hattrick to his name (albeit pre-injuries and lower league). He has shown in his cameos that he has variation, such as a reverse pass, and rarely gives the ball away. Going against him is his defensive prowess, yet Shipley is seemingly ahead of him. If Jones moves on in the summer I hope we will have at least given him a chance to show what he can do beforehand.

Why extend him ? Unless he’s just being extra cautious

He needed to go on loan somewhere like 2nd tier Holland. Not to L2 cloggers or Scotland where he’d be hacked and bashed.
If he has to be protected from being “hacked and bashed”, then it’s unlikely he has much of a future in the game - he’s more likely to end up in League 2 after leaving us.

He was hacked and bashed all the time whenever he played
Including in the first minute of the last U23 game v Hull
Doubt his non selection is to protect him
He's not a kid anymore
More likely to be about his defensive ability when we don't have the ball I suspect
Possibly has a better chance of getting on today

When a defender is preferred in a forward role, surly time must be up for Jones. After all his work getting back, he surly wants and needs to be playing. Regardless of individual options, it seems MR might have made his mind up.

Agree I think Jones may leave. If he does I wish him well for the next chapter in his career. Allowing him to leave on a free will give him the best chance of securing a decent deal for himself, financially. If i was his agent i would be approaching a teams like big spending Forest Green Rovers who look nailed on to promote from L2.

We only gave him a one year contract anyway

MR must see something in training that stops him using Jjones as much as we would expect

Yes and it’s not often he gets proven wrong. Clarke Harris is the debatable one but he and Peterborough look on course for a swift return to League 1

Westbrooke and Biamou left to fanfare but one is now in League 2 with Stevenage and the other cast aside by Dundee United
