As for China, it's a way off, but if it became a massive fight do you think China would side with Russia or the West? Ideologically they're closer aligned to Russia, but the ego's between Putin and Xi would be difficult. it could be a marriage of convenience that would eventually end up with them fighting over control.

It doesn't matter what they say they are as unless Russia invades then the status quo there remains and if Putin invades he loses in the end.

China will side with whoever is best for them and that is not Russia. There hated each other when they were both Communist.

You're probably right.

That was the U.S. plan for WWII. Kept out of it for ages, then swept in at the end to look like heroes and because they had tons of money from getting involved later on it loaned it to others to rebuild, thus giving them huge leverage over everyone else and end up pretty much running the world as a result

You're correct, they declared independence though I think its fair to say that's probably not their long term goal.

Well he says they're there for 'peacekeeping', which is believable enough for the average Russian as it will be if he says the peacekeeping forces came under attack. Be honest, you don't know what's happening next-nobody does.

Think about this ... Germany had the most advanced army in the world in 1939 .. Russians will fight to the death to protect their country .

It's a war best left alone

They wont just roll over, it's why the west always give them a wide birth and not countries like Iraq

Zelensky due to speak soon. What can he possibly say and what can Ukraine realistically do without inviting a full on invasion, which may well happen anyway.

The US embassy that had moved from Kiev to Lviv in the far west a few days back are now leaving the country due to safety concerns so clearly the US believe Russia won't stay in the East.

I fear this is only going one way now. Putin´s comments are extremely alarming. Thoughts with them all. I really hope this doesn´t escalate any more, but it seems like one man has lost the plot and is thirsty for trouble.
