Hyam, McFad & JCS are my first select trio.

It's tough for Rose to get in at the minute. I just feel Hyam is undroppable, JCS gives us balance and is playing well and McFad deals with no 9s well or better than Rose.

Great problem to have as we can potentially rotate them all.

Yes, McFadz has picked back up to where he was pre covid.

The only thing I'll say is that we seem particularly vulnerable from balls in from the angle of the penalty area, we probably don't do enough to stop the cross / shot (Reading first goal, Cardiff first goal, and last night, QPR winner) as it doesn't seem to be on any player's radar to get out and close down.

I think that's a symptom of the formation really. The back 3 should be positioned to defend the cross from the angle and not really to stop the cross. That responsibility falls between the 2 DMs and/or the WBs. If the opposition are clever enough, then they get in the channel between the DM & WB giving them time/space to pick a decent cross.

JCS is getting better every week. So important to make that permanent in the summer now.

I love how he stands attackers up, waits for his moment then just steals the ball with his toe and passes it out. Makes it look easy too.

Fadz coming back in has made the back line instantly more solid and shows how important that leadership is. He has to take some blame for their goal last night though as he was in no man’s land and should have been tight on Martin.

JCS last night robbing the ball like that was almost like a hockey player in how he won possession. Happy to admit I was wrong on him earlier in the season.

Think that’s what drives me mad about Bidwell - he seems to be so narrow at all times whereas he needs to be putting pressure on their wide player. There was one point (wish I’d made a note of the time) where Bidwell, JCS and Hamer (I think) were all on the corner of our box and their full back/wing back had the freedom of the wing.
