Not me tbf, I got over defeats pretty quickly when I was that young. Started hating them we we dropped out of the prem and started playing them regularly... realised pretty quickly what a nasty, dirty team they were (this seems to span many years, managers and players, part of their DNA I suppose) and also what wankers their fans are. Can't stand the club tbh, up there as one of my most hated.
That said one of my best mates supports them so I realise not 100% of their fanbase are dickheads, but the % does seem high.

Some of those games in the early 00s at HR were crackers - great atmosphere, especially a Boxing Day game, I think it was.

I would say the fan base of Sheffield United & Cov. Are similar up when doing well, down when when not. Sheffield Wednesday is bigger than both.

I’m sitting here in stitches giggling like a kid. I’m in tears I’m laughing so much! 😆

ENJOY!!!!

I saw some comments the other day from a post back in 2017 , showing 300 coventry fans at Sheffield United after we went to Wembley on our way out the league and Sheffield United on the way back up ..

A Sheffield United fans stated " we will never play them again"

Coventry city v Sheffield United , championship , 12th March 2022

Nothing more to say

Their long term average gate doesn't show that
How about the last 30 years . You can't say we're comparable now going on the basis of a span of 100 years. In the same division in the modern era they are a long way ahead of us, as are Derby and Forest.
It doesn't mean it always will be but as things are their hardcore support is far bigger.

Their long term average gate despite over 100 years in the top two divisions is 19k. Ours despite a lot less time in the top two divisions is 17k which includes 2 seasons playing outside of the city.

Factor in the last 20 years have absolutely knackered our all time average

I remember the crowds in the mid-90s at HR being pitiful. I think a first game of the season v Wimbledon got something like 10,000.

Pre sisu , we were above forest Derby and Leicester in the all time average, there were many clubs in the 80s and 90s with shite crowds tbh

Also remember their fans giving it loads to 300 cov fans outside but not saying fuck all when there was 2800 this season ... about right for them really , nonces

Reading that forum, it’s quite funny how a few years later they still think the whistles in protest was a ploy by our supporters to disrupt their title push. Not realising that the world doesn’t revolve around Sheffield Utd.

All these debates are a bit pointless but we did in the 60’s have huge attendances which completely collapsed when in the 70’s the industrial recession set in - we were in the top 8 attendances in the 60’s and by mid 70’s were second worst in the top flight

Our attendances collapsed when as chairman Jimmy Hill decided to go all seater reducing the HR capacity by over 15000 at a stroke and the home capacity to about 19000 with a lot of those seats open to the elements and being put on existing terraces not purpose built stands. Your correct about the 60s though official figures regularly had 27/28000 but I’d say 10k could be added to the official figures every game.
I was at the Wolves match and there were thousands more than the official 51400 figure.
I got to the ground about 12.30 and the queue of Wolves fans alone was down King Richards Street over the park and into Gulson Road and the queues of Cov fans were all round the ground and as I said that was at two and a half hours before kick-off.

They've spent 100+ years in the top 2 divisions whereas we've only spent 95 in the league of which around 64 in the top two divisions. So, I think the long term comparison is right.

CHRIST O’MIGHTY ARE SHEFFIELD UNITED UTTER SHIT!!!!!

If it had finished 10-1 I’d have not been surprised. Worst team I’ve seen this season.

Dave Bassett and then, most of all, Neil Warnock. Say no more.
