JCS contract position following the sanctions? (3 Viewers)

I know Chelsea have an option to offer a one year contract to JCS at the end of the season, but with the sanctions meaning that they can't offer contracts does this mean he will be available in the summer with nothing Chelsea can do about it?

That's my understanding of the situation and there will be quite a few other Chelsea players in the same situation

Even if it does there's no guarantee we'll get him and without a fee to pay, the likelihood is that he'll have even more options.

If things go on that long, and lets hope they don't, presume there will be discussions between the PL, government and Chelsea around how the club can continue to operate. Maybe they could be put into something similar to administration so they'd be restricted but not unable to operate.

SISU Should:

(As a specialist is buying distressed debt)

-Buy Chelsea via a covert investment arm.
-send us all their decent back up players plus one or two more.
-end up owning 2 Premiership clubs.
-sell both for a combined profit.

(Satire - maybe)

Bit of a shame as we had a nice relationship built with Chelski, hopefully that wont change. I'd take JCS in a heartbeat. 3 quality centre halves, none of which have reached their full potential yet.

Even though there is uncertainty at Chelsea, Azpilicueta’s deal has been automatically extended (according to BBC Sport) as Chelsea had a year option in their favour. Isn’t this the same as JCS?

The JCS deal took an age to get over the line and I'm hoping that was because we were arranging teams of a permanent transfer in the coming summer ala Sheaf

Very much doubt that was the case given he has an extra year's option at Chelsea, which I think they probably would've activated (bit up in the air now admittedly).

They're renowned for trying to hold onto graduates as long as possible in order to try and get fees for them - whether that be from loans or transfers. If I remember correctly they actually offered a new contract to Todd Kane during the summer he left despite him being 25/26 at the time and with barely a handful of first team appearances to his name.

That was my point though, the deal may have took ages as we were arranging the fee we'd pay Chelsea in the summer if we wanted to make JCS a permanent signing.

Ah sorry I misunderstood. Not sure why it wouldn't have just been announced like the Sheaf deal was if that were the case.

Chelsea will have to slim down their playing staff, Is there monthly salary liabilities around £45m, might be £25m but large whatever. Currently 21 out on loans, that is down from 31 the previous season.
They will need to lose most of these players, certainly they will not be in a position to give JCS his extension, even if they could.
Big question will Ian Maatson also be available?

Maatsen would still be under contract i think so they wouldn't be allowed to sell.
