In completely not surprising news, unlike the council to not properly scrutinise things

Not good news for the region at all if we miss out on this.

While Boris and his buddies have been caught red handed and some action is required - The concept of Keir Starmer ( who can’t make a decision to save his life ) and his colleagues is impossible for me to consider - bovver girl , Diane Abbot and a hovering Corbyn would be worse for this country than our current predicament
What are you talking about? Nobody is saying get rid of these people and replace them with Labour/Starmer. They are the incumbent government. If you don’t want Labour to get in don’t vote for them at the next election…that’s why we have elections.
This nothing to do with party politics, elections etc.
Johnson was voted in by the electorate, and as part of that was expected to uphold his position to a certain standard ie not break the laws his government implemented, not lie to the people/parliament etc etc.

Very True but for the muppets on LBC - Radio 5 etc I have to turn it off

Pandemic not over , war not over , fuel issues for years , net zero target with no crystal ball going to be a tough time for whoever is in charge of the country

Yes it's a tough time for whoever is in charge.

So why not have someone vaguely competent rather than allowing someone who breaks their own laws to continue just because it's a 'difficult time'?

The problem we have, is that there is no one even vaguely competent, from either side. Anyone who could actually do a good job will just end up working in the private sector for 5 times as much.

Imagine if Neville Chamberlain had been allowed to stay in power when we were actually in a British boots on the ground, British aircraft in the skies and British boats at sea war.

I think I’m right in saying that Chamberlain’s approval rating was higher at his time of resignation than Boris’ currently is.

Whilst I agree with your overall point I would argue that anyone who hasn't broken the law (laws they themselves set) is by default better than what we have currently.

Ok slam dunk - can you name some likely lads and lasses and don’t say Keir Abstamer 🤣

You're missing the point (probably deliberately).

Nobody is saying there is an abundance of great choices.

How about Ian Paisely Jnr?

Hasn't broken any laws so I assume better than the current occupier

Jeremy Hunt would be a huge step up. Zahawi is fucking awful and thick as shit but would be more competent. As long as you stay away from the Dorries/Truss/ERG lot it’ll be a step up in honesty and competence. Not a massive step up but you’ll take what you can get.

Current favourites are

Liz Truss 6-1
Tom Tugenhat 9-1
Jeremy Hunt 9-1
Ben Wallace 10-1

All except Truss would be a massive step up in quality (not saying much given how low the bar is) and as far as the Conservatives are concerned all campaigned remain which is going to be a benefit to the Conservatives come the next GE as non were involved in leave campaign unicorn so will at least be able to be clean of that.

Hunt ideologically would be awful. basically would dismantle public services and privatise the lot. Wrote a huge paper about why the NHS should be privatised.

I mean they’re all Tories. There’s no good choices but there’s some who aren’t possible foreign assets, dishonest, incompetent, etc.

Also the Tories know damn well the public wouldnt stand for their more mental ideas.

Which bit? He absolutely wrote papers on dismantling the nhs. I’d take as close to an honest and honourable Tory leader as one can get over Boris

The bit he is going to privatise the NHS without any approved policy and any consent in parliament - he is just DOING IT

Grendel, given one poster's very personal story yesterday do you not think your, no doubt in your mind hilarious, new avatar is a bit tasteless?

You always show your true colours when your heroes come under fire. Fucking disgusting tbh.

Mr Johnson is not my hero.

It is however symbolic of our times and frankly if you want to looks at tasteless avatars look somewhere else

I will change to the other cake picture which is on every national newspaper if you wish

Also on the NHS privatisation (whatever that actually means) can anyone honestly say if Hunt proposed what Wes Streeting has they would not be saying its a sign of the party privatising the NHS?
