….if Gyökeres was clinical

He has had a heck of a season and scored 16 goals but could he have had more over the course of the season? His expected goals says no he is about right but he has had about 120 shots which is a massive ammount, to put it into context Godden has 12 goals from 56 shots with an expected goals of 9.41.
Before anyone says anything, I think Gyökeres is the best striker we have had since relegation from the premier league…

His all round game is superb , but I can't help feel that his 18% conversion rate has cost us somewhat this season .

However it's also hard to get on his back as it's his first full season here and he's been excellent and always gives 100%
Hopefully it's something they can work on because he rarely looks like he hits a ball cleanly

This is all if he stays that is .. he is the ideal strike partner really but I'm sure even himself would admit he could/should easily be on 25

Must be a nightmare to play against though , has so many assets

This stat may look like a negative (conversion rate), but he's still a young man, and he will only get better.
Regular football, good coaching and staying clear of injuries will hopefully increase that conversion rate, and make him a great player.
Out of our 'big 3', he is the one we can't afford to lose imho

He has missed some sitters and 1v1’s but a lot of those chances he’s made for himself. As others have said his game is so much more than goals though. I just expect him to win every tussle and come away with the ball.

Thought he’d be a squad player when we signed him permanently. Robins knows all.

Without his effort we don't get many of those chances. All in perspective and 20+ easily if we can keep him next season. Played a lot of games up top on his own in that barren spell for too. Quality player, still improving.

He is incredibly talented. Defenders haven't a clue which way he is turning. He isn't the most natural finisher. If he improves in this area he will without doubt be Premiership material. Hope we can hold onto him, though if we carry on like this both may be true next season.

He played for a while after being hacked at Blackburn when he really didn’t look right. When 100% just a real joy to watch, the same for his teammates in fairness.

That game knocked the stuffing out of him for a couple of months. Godden and Waghorn were also out injured weren’t they so we had to play a half fit Vik

With a squad this small you really have to tread carefully and with the games coming so thick and fast in this league there’s nowhere to hide. If we can keep the squad together and add some much needed depth in a few places we’ll be able to last the distance.

Very big if

Very true. We really aren’t that far off. I just hope we don’t lose all of our best players and do a Barnsley

They lost their manager on top. Don’t think we will, and the key players now all have 2 years left which allows us to hold them for one more season.

The problem as ever is what those who control the purse strings decide

If any manager can lose players and replace then though it’s Robins. What he’s done in the last 5 years is remarkable considering how minimal the backing from the owners has been

Where you been BSB? Was worried about you on the mean streets of Lower Leam.

The majority on here had written him off before the season had even started without him we’d have been fighting a relegation battle this season.
Waste of money mate, should have kept Max.
