Would really like to see Kevin Blackwell apply and then given the chance...3 play off campaigns in 8 seasons (2 of which resulted in his teams reaching the Play off final), eye for talent: signing Jermaine Beckford for Leeds United...I think he could really get the best out of McDonald, Elliott...

Rafa Benitez, Fabio Capello, Alan Curbishley, Claudio Ranieri, Louis Van Gaal, Walter Smith, Lee Clark, Kenny Daglish who do you want? :D

My own thoughts on the sacking are that we might have well have given him the game against Birmingham at least. If we'd won that a bit of confidence might have made a huge difference. It's a shame because I was at his first game in charge at Burnley, and the football we played that night was decent. Genuinely thought that his approach to how the game should be played was right, but was tactically out of his depth. I would love to see him stay at the club as scout as he clearly has an eye for talent, but that's looking pretty unlikely. I'd like to wish him all the best.

In terms of a replacement, I'd love to see Dennis Wise back.

I was at Portsmouth when we won 3-0, and that was a night that I truly felt proud to be a CCFC fan for a long time, good football and brilliant result. Maybe we just need a caretaker manager? :thinking about:

Obviously Shaw & Carsley will do the job for now. With us not having a pot to piss in I'm concerned they will be given it full time and we get more of the same but we don't know how the players will respond to them. If they bring in a new manager I would be surprised if they get someone who is already in work as their would be compo to pay. This next move by the club is a huge decision and they have to get it right. PUSB!

Carsley might turn out to be a good manager one day. No experience yet though. Hopefully he will have learnt a few things alongside AT in his first season.

Shame it had to end this way but the simple fact is failing to beat Bury at home is unacceptable after what had come before. We have a decent squad and should be in the top 6 at the very least at this level and with Thorn there was little sign this was going to happen. Time for a new man and I totally support this decision. Thanks Andy, you did your best and best of luck for the future.

Bobby Gould recently came out and said he would manage for free :)

I would have him over some of the names touted now!

Learnt what not to do I assume

Well actually that's what I meant. AT had no experience as a manager in his first season as Carsley wouldn't either.

Always saw this day coming though re recruiting players and am concerned that we've lost a good scout.

We have a fairly decent L1 squad that should interest an experienced/decent manager as long as we can afford their wages. We need someone that will bring some possitivity to the players and fans while being able to shoulder the expectation of doing well. For far too long we have had players under performing so this is a big area to address and will require someone that demands strict discipline.....whether a rookie manager/coach could do all of that i'm not sure?

Well I'm sad in a way because as some people have said he is a decent scout. I hope they've kept him on. Though I think he'll leave. What person would want to stay at the place of his greatest failure? Thorn will leave and hopefully find a job scouting for aanother club where he can start again.

As for a new manager, Dyche, Wise, Gould etc being mentioned. I'd take these men purely for the experience they offer etc over Carsley and Shaw though if I had too, I'd have Shaw as caretaker manager for as long as the club needs to find another manager but not as a long term or perminant replacement. Carsley is a good lad but at this moment not a management candidate in my eyes.

How about Roy Keane?? ;)

Wise hasn't managed in years, Gould is ancient and Dyche has had little more than Thorn as a manager.

It's not that I want Shaw and Carsley over someone else-it's that I doubt we will be bothering to fork out for a better candidate or indeed attract one!

Good shout but would you then rather have Shaw or Carsley? Or would you prefer a manager who has experience regardless of their age or the amount of experience they have. Surely a little experience is better than none?

Mardy Mick McCarthy-no thanks, dour, miserable, boorish, can't take any criticism better off on MOTD.

Billy Davies-"Cheque book Charlie", grizzles when things don't go for him and never his fault.

Gary Johnson-he can fook off, turned us down before when he was at Yeovil-said they were a bigger club..my arse.

Steve Coterill-C**T, again spouted off about us when he wasn't offered the managers job before.

Sean Dyche-Limited experience at Watford, again would be a big gamble, if he was any good then they wouldn't have got rid.

We need a disciplinarian, someone who will not take the capitulation that we saw yesterday, someone who is a winner (we have enough losers at the club already), someone who will drag these players by the balls to the top of the table!!

Is Wisey the man - who knows, he certainly wouldn't take any shit, doesn't need the money so would he be even interested?

Blackwell-good coach did well at Leeds and Sheff Utd, maybe a bit old now for all the stress?

Curbishley-decent manager, could be what he/we is/are looking for, knows how to deal with real players and experienced, about the right age, could be a goer?

The guy at Exeter - Tisdale, I'm sure would jump at the chance to manage a club like us with the squad and facilties available.

I'm sure Waggott and Fisher have someone in mind, at least it's not boring being a City fan lol!!

PUSB

Richard Shaw and Lee Carsley take temporary charge of team affairs after club part company with Andy Thorn
Coventry City have parted company with manager Andy Thorn.

Assistant manager Richard Shaw and first team coach Lee Carsley will take temporary charge of team affairs.

Chief executive Tim Fisher said: “We have not taken this decision lightly. We recognised that last season there were off-the-field matters that affected team affairs and felt it was right and proper to give Andy the chance to put that right over the course of the summer and the start of the season.

“We do not feel that has happened. Of course, the fact that we have surrendered the lead in the first three league games has not helped but there are several other factors in this decision – not just three disappointing results.

“Richard and Lee will take charge of first team affairs and we feel that will give us time to ensure we appoint a manager to help us mount a serious challenge for promotion.

“We would like to put on record our thanks to Andy for his work in current and previous roles at the club.”

Development director Steve Waggott added: “We have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to assemble a squad to support Andy that is capable of pushing for promotion this season.

“There is no doubting the ability in the squad – you saw that in the first half against Bury and in much of the second half against Sheffield United.

“It’s vital now that we all pull together as a club and ensure that we start to win matches in the next few weeks.”

From Fishers statement it seems Shaw is only temporary. Good.

I doubt they've got anyone lined up yet. I think they're more likely to give Shaw and Carsley a couple of games and then seeing what happens. If they can replace on the cheap then they'll do it that way. If it doesn't work out then I can see them bringing someone in.

Tisdale or Mick Mccarthy for me!

McCarthy is a good shout. Dunno if he'd accept it tho..

Wish Thorn all the best but I think this is the right choice. He just wasn't quite there as a manager.
