I actually like Godden, I just don't think he's a top Championship striker.
Very obsessive comments from Evo, he’s very wound up. I’ve never seen anyone say his finishing isn’t good enough. But his all round play is league 1 level.

Although let’s not forget he said he would get in every team in the league

There is no figure that shows Walker as a 22 goal championship striker for us atleast

His GPM ratio suggests he could score 16 goals should he play 90 minutes every match over 46 matches .. I'd say that's not too unreasonable .

Walker has 9 goals in 50 championship appearances

A goal every 248 minutes

im talking this season.

If a striker scored 20 goals in the Premier league .. nobody ever would say he's a championship level player ... agreed ?

You aren't a league 1 level striker if you score 18 goals over 45 games in the championship .. it's Impossible

You're a championship striker , to argue otherwise is strange

Godden is class. It is just a shame he has had injury problems, an appendix problem and a dodgy moustache. I remember an article in GMK along the lines that asked is there anyone madder than Bobby Gould. There are definitely a few posters on here who fit the bill. We all know who they are.

In your attempts to prove that Walker is better than Godden:

obliviously I did it to prove its lack of justification as a barometer - across all competitions who was the best in league two by this measure?

Listened to socially distanced sports bar discussing Goulds time in charge of Wales, didn't realise he's so unhinged.

Bollocks.

You were genuinely trying to point out that Walker would be better than Godden over the season and happily used mpg as a metric to back your argument.

no I know most people don’t and so I put the stat in - it’s not hard to understand - even for you

Was that when he was wrestling with John Hartson? They covered that on the Quickly Kevin podcast and it sounded completely bonkers. He came across reasonably well on the interview in general but his management methods sounded a bit odd to say the least!

Can't see how anybody can discredit Godden's strike rate, who cares if some are penalties, they are for a lot of strikers.
I'm the first to say that he doesn't offer a great deal with the ball outside the area but his movement is good which can at least help others if not put him into good positions. He's stepped up to this league when most doubted him so fair play to him.

Yeah, he’s definitely exceeded my expectations.

You're wasting your time I'm afraid.

There's a pattern between those trying to discredit Godden and those who were real Tyler Walker fan boys. Their egos are still bruised that he wasn't good enough, and isn't doing well on loan. Godden was always his direct rival for a place so it makes sense that he is the one getting it.

They were our first choice strikers last season.
This is the same forum that voted overwhelmingly to offer Biamou a new contract this season.
Now I doubt he’d get a club above the Conference.

If he's our best striker ever in the Championship, we should be looking at a tidy sum over the summer.
Why? Not every player needs to be valued on their re-sale value.

The model of buying low and selling high works for the likes of Hamer, O'Hare, Sheaf and Gyokores as they are all young and have potential to improve. Godden's value comes from his goals right now and we should continue to use him until we reach a level that is past his capabilities (much like McFadz). We haven't reached that level yet and he continues to score goals at a brilliant rate.

For what it's worth I think his build up play could be better, but while he continues to bang in the goals I'm happy to have him in the team.

Since the 83/84 season (when I started supporting the club) only 5 players have scored more league goals for the club - Dublin, McSheffrey, Regis, Gibson and Ndlovu. Godden now level with Micky Gynn on 32.

I always thought Micky Gynn would make a good League 1 striker.

It was often pointed out about Jimmy Greaves that he could be anonymous for 89 minutes and then produce a bit of magic to score a goal. Seems as if JG was playing for us these days he wouldn’t be appreciated by some on here.

I am not, by the way, saying that Godden is in anyway as good as Greaves, it just seems to be the narrative of some people about Godden that, ‘yes he scores goals’(seems to be a grudging admittance of this) ‘but what else does he do?’ I also think the same people don’t notice or choose to ignore his contributions in games to the team.

He produced perhaps the pass of the season to set up Gyokeres against Fulham and again set him up Saturday with a superb piece of play. Two instances off the top of my head.

He is a very good Championship standard goalscorer who due to illness and injury has still to have a prolonged run in the team, yet he is still producing the goods. And yet some people still moan about him.

Great striker. He doesn't have pace, but that also means he could be knocking them in at this level for the next 3-4 years

League 1 striker 😉 seriously though when you dig into the stats it's clear why Robins wants to persist with godden , his stats are good over most metrics , passing definitely let's him down

A solid championship striker
He is more than a solid Championship striker, be is a very good championship striker who has attributes which prevent him from being better such as being injury prone and passing

Personally I feel he is too injury prone and doesn’t contribute enough off the ball to justify a wage over 8k which was suggested on the Jamie Allen thread.

If he had remained fit funnily, our play off hopes would no longer be alive

This tone is extremely familiar , what is your other account/s name
