Viktor off to Fulham? (5 Viewers)

Been unbelievable this season. Not a striker like him in our division. Raw power, change of pace etc. However, I feel if we can just hold on to him for one more year, make him into that 30 goal a season striker I think he could be, he’s going to be worth double of whatever he is now.

Money talks however and if he does go, it’s going be a healthy profit on the million quid we payed for him not long ago.

I think of the three Hamer is the best player but probably the easiest to replace, goals are hard to replace and Viktor works so hard as does O’Hare.
Hamer would be the hardest to replace in my opinion, so integral to how we play, he keeps the game ticking and you can see the difference when he is on the pitch and not

Let’s be realistic, he is not worth anything more than £6-£8 million tops
16 Championship goals is a decent return of course it is however this Is based on one full championship season. Last season I think it was 4 goals in 19 games and at time where most fans would have personally driven him back to Brighton.

if he stays, and gets another 15-20 goals next season then maybe £10-£15 million would be spot on based on consecutive championship seasons.

For the record, in my opinion Hamer is worth £6-8 million also
Ohare £5 million tops

Sheaf £5 million

Sheaf worth 5 million? I can't say I think he is worth anything even close to that.

I think Gyökeres will command the highest fee and will be gone because of it. Hamer might be the next one in the queue. I think personally we'll keep O'Hare. His end product isn't good enough and I think that will slash his asking price. Of course however, SISU might still accept it.

I expect we'll have bids for all three of them. I'm just not sure what they'll be or how the owners will value said bids.

Look at what happened when they lost Dike and didnt replace, I partly agree, because if Sisu dont invest and allow us to replace Vik and improve the rest of the team we will be the next Barnsley

They never owned Dike, they couldn't afford him, so had no money to reinvest when he left. They also lost their manager, replaced him with poor ones, let key players run down contracts & signed dross. I don't buy into the "we could be them next season" tbh.

With strikers, the big worry though is that he will regress next season, struggle to hit 10 goals and then be worth half as much as we could've got for him now

If the interest is real, I would snap Fulham's hand off. Selling Vik for £10m+ would go a long way to keeping Gus and O'Hare. Surely we could find another Gyokeres? We've already done it once...

Exactly !

that’s not a benchmark on a fee just a bad signing - 20 years ago we paid £6 million for lee hughes - a bad signing

I think the upside potential is more for Gyo especially if we can add a few more complementary pieces. £10m seems too cheap for him. We should hold out for much much more if the interest is real and not give away the family silver for peanuts.

I love watching Yok, he's a proper workhorse who never gives less than 100%, he's been our best player this season BUT no way is he a PL striker...yet.
Another season in the Championship in sky blue please.

I can't see Fulham taking Gyokeres into the premiership with them as cover for Mitrovic? Mitrovic will be the second striker there as he was last time in the prem. Good in the championship but not so good in the prem. So Gyokeres? Nah.

Whoever goes in the close season good luck to them but I will say they'll never be happier in their respective football careers than they were with us.

An adoring crowd and an excellent manager and background staff is so much better than sitting on your backside on the bench week after week and feeding off scraps for a so called better team even if you are earning a lot more.

Unless of course you're a saleable asset and are forced to go which is highly probable.

The powers to be have all got forked tongues.

I don’t think we’ve ever had a striker score 16 at this level. I’m really not sure we can find another one that easily.

As always it’s a moot point as if a player is offered premier league football you can’t make them stay. Obviously you can try, but inevitably tools will be downed, a fuss kicked up and a move forced even if Sisu refused to sell (which they wouldn’t).

Gyo can win a game on his own and to that end I think will be the biggest loss of the four (I’m now including Sheaf as he too is now looking a potential level above).

I don't think I've ever seen anyone else play like Vic.
Can anyone think of a player with a similar style?

Lads there will be interest but that story is written by a clown who works on the "make enough predictions and some will be right" form of clickbait "journalism".

Why would Vik want to stall his career by sitting on the bench, unless he’s totally motivated by money?
He doesn’t strike me as someone who’s prepared to twiddle his thumbs for 3 years.
He missed a number of matches injured and even played half fit, so he could have been a 20 goal striker this season .
Next year he could manage that .... and his value would rise again

Just watching Fulham v Luton with some dodgy foreign commentary 'and just heard Viktor Gyokeres Coventry' muttered in Dutch/Czech whatever !

Anyone know if these are a reliable source, or is it just a load of bullshit?

Was sat opposite Dougie Freeman on the train to Piccadilly after the game on Saturday. He said he’s a Sporting Director at Palace now and involved in their recruitment and was at the Forest Swansea game. He was very knowledgeable about our squad and didn’t fall for my dangling of the carrot of Tyler Walker!

Freeman mentioned Gyokeres by name, and that he was on several clubs lists. He didnt seem that bothered about Hamer and said there’s plenty of that role of player out there. Said that Palace have a transfer pact with several other PL clubs (only naming Villa saying it happened with Ollie Watkins) where they won’t bid against eachother on agreed players and he will have to see how Gyok fits into that.

Eitherway it left me with the impression that Gyokeres is the one that clubs are really interested in, not COH or Hamer. I really hope we can keep him.

In addition - Luton Town are a bunch of dirty b*st*rds. If VAR was in The Championship, they'd have a sack full more red cards. Cheap nasty shots all the time.

Yep horrible bastards and horrible manager but that the reason they are where they are. Hoping they get battered here then slip up against Reading and finish outside top 6

Great post, and interesting to hear what Freedman had to say. Palace have signed some decent players the last few years.

His comments reflect what I heard Oggy say in commentary a few weeks ago about Viktor, in that he thought he would be most in demand, as a good goal scorer is, and that he would also be the hardest to replace.

Yes it was interesting. Freeman was quite approachable and chatty to be fair to him, I didn’t realise how high up at Palace he was. They have signed some outstanding young players in recent years and just from a twenty minute chat you could tell how switched on he was and aware of players. He said he scouts a player until they feel comfortable presenting them to the Manager/Chairman and his brief ultimately comes from them.

The only other thing to add was that he said Gyokeres is the one that teams are really interested in is because A) he can score goals (could achieve better returns with further work), B) can make his own goals and C) when he doesn’t score, his off the ball work & link play is already PL level.

Does he go to opposition games then? Or was he back from Southampton?

If VAR was in the Championship we’d have already secured at least an extra 2 games this season.
