There's a good Youtube video about 4 mins long showing the after-match send-off for the whole team, including for Shippers. Only spoilt by some utter young knobber trying to get on the pitch. He was grabbed around the chest and waist by two stewards who promptly dumped him back over the barrier. Absolutely the right thing to do. But then it seemed to get a bit ugly as some in the area thought he'd been harshly treated and started having a go at the stewards.
Little twat.

I never realised Neil Shipperley has been playing for us all these years - could’ve sworn he retired years ago….surely he’s old enough to take peoples opinions by now too
Genuine misspell, I'm sorry, I'll wear a dunces cap and go to the back of the class.

There is some hypocrisy here

The threads on him were worse than any I can remember since probably Jordan Clarke

The criticism regarding him not being a Championship player was fair.

Certain posters coming out with comments like he's a 'disgrace to the shirt' is pretty shocking though. Especially when he's played an important part in our journey to the Championship.

I stand by everything I said in that thread. Which was basically a criticism of one performance which I thought was abject.
I still wish the lad all the best and sang his name and applauded him Saturday.

Looking through that thread, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be given its introduction. A handful of posters were a bit extreme, but from what I can see most of the content was reasonable and a product of frustration. You have to remember that this was probably straight after a game as well, and if I recall, one where he really looked like he couldn't be arsed at all.

I have certainly been very critical of him at times, but none of that is really relevant now anyway. The lad has had some great moments with us, and it is the right time to go our separate ways so to speak. We'll always have those great memories in mind I'm sure the goal at Wembley will be the first thing people remember when his name pops up.

I was probably overly harsh in that thread, but it was a point where we were pushing for the playoffs and he really looked like he couldn’t be arsed.

Some of Shipley's latter performances warranted criticism, but by the same token everyone was pleasantly surprised by his LWB performances and praised.

I wish Jordan the best of luck for the future and hope he has a long, fulfilling career and we can welcome him back into the SBA as a fan,

Some utterly ridiculous statements on that thread. A severe lack of football knowledge demonstrated by some posters.

@PVA accusations were disgusting and he was encouraging a witch hunt against him

Shipley I’ve always said was like a Telfer type player for the manager. Go in any positions try and do what he can abs train and work hard on limitations

No one says he’s a championship AM but to say he’s lazy not trying is a disgraceful slur far more so than questioning ability

Exactly. He was abysmal in that game and clearly was not putting in 100% effort.

That does not mean that we aren't grateful for what he did for us or don't wish him well for the future.

If the manager thought he was putting in 100% effort why would he play him again?

Errr.. He didn't, until the final game of the season for a swansong. Hardly a ringing endorsement of his performance against Derby is it?

We have been where we have been and he has been great for us.

Even this year he has done tasks that he hasnt been given credit for by some of our fans. Some of these fans I doubt have ever kicked a ball straight in their life.

Well done Jordan you have achieved an incredible amount. Appearances, cups , goals and promotions.

Your career is still ahead of you. Thankyou and good luck.

He retained him in the squad and was on the bench

He still gave him a start unlike Jones. Frankly if your proud of yourself for starting that pile of shite on a player whose served the club for years don’t squeal just own it. As better days said it’s no wonder robins tells players to avoid social media

You never actually made any positive messages on this thread until you saw the link then start bleating - just own it

You said he’s lazy stealing a living by definition - own it

lol PVA likes a post praising a player he thinks didn’t try and was stealing a living - starting a hateful thread to get negative comments about him

The lazy thing was always weird to me. Robins has happily bombed out players who don't put the effort in and has shown no fear of getting rid of fan favourites. Never stacked up that he would keep Shipley around, and have him in the match day squad, if he was unfit and / or didn't put the effort in.

Exactly it’s a shocking accusation and pretty embarrassing

Quite nice from the Shrewsbury site

Shrewsbury Town boss Steve Cotterill said:

"I'm really pleased to have got Jordan in so early on. He's a good player and it's a great time to sign him, he scores goals and he's a good young man with a nice family so I think he'll fit in well.

"I've done my homework and I've had meetings with him so I do know him well [as a person]. With all the data and clips that are flying around you know what you're getting with a footballer but you don't know the person until you meet them face-to-face, but after meeting him I think he's the right type of person we want in the squad

Happy enough with my comments about Shipley in that thread and he has got a move to his level, he seems a good honest pro and got to a level most of us can only dream of.
