Do you want to discuss boring politics? (67 Viewers)

Then why bother fucking voting? What's the point if you're just going to accept that politicians can do whatever they want once elected?

This isn't a distraction, it's key - and it's bollocks to say that's it was ok because everyone was at it.

How many stories do you have to hear about people who weren't allowed in hospitals to visit dying relatives before it hits home.

If you don't care about it then you get the politicians you deserve and there's no point whining about their decisions or lack thereof.
Fucking grow up.

Do you honestly believe for one minute that they wernt all breaking the rules at some point, do you really believe that ALL the rules regarding burials etc wernt completely OTT. OF course they fucking were.
We can all agree that the gatherings the drinks and the takeaways were reprehensible, but we have given these muppets a mandate to run the country, and believe it or not, we have more fucking issues that need addressing.

If both party leaders resign, it won't change what happened, it will just change the names of those who you are screaming at to resign.

Are you seriously suggesting that the furore over parties in No.10 isstopping Johnson addressing the issues you've listed?

If he's really incapable of dealing withboth simultaneously then he really does need to fuck off pronto the useless twat.

Steve mate, it feels like you're working pretty hard here to try to excuse this! 🙂

It seems that other (more junior) people who attended the event were fined, ergo, it's an event that broke the rules that were in place at the time, as set by the Prime Minister.

The photographs clearly show that the Prime Minister was present.

There is no condition that I'm aware of in the law that sets a minimum time of attendance at a forbidden event, below which one can claim to have followed the rules.

Here are the rules that were in force at the time, as set and outlined quite clearly by the Prime Minister literally eight days prior to the event.

I'd welcome an honest explanation of how one person at the event is fined, and another who is clearly present, is not. It certainly doesn't look like the Met are going to be able to provide one!

Regardless, he has already accepted that he has broken the law at another point in time, is it a three strikes and you're out rule for Government ministers now? 😁

Im not excusing it at all, you and others might read it that way because I don’t get excited and start calling the Met bent (they might be for different reasons) and for them to somehow reopen investigations and waste even more police time because i want more FPNs issued

Im just trying to explain the polices position in all this and the challenges they face looking at stuff retrospectively. I also threw out a couple of examples of how one person could get fined and others not. I don’t know though, it was a guess as I said. They fucked up by not dealing with it at the time (as they are based at Downing St). They have not, to my knowledge, issued any fines elsewhere retrospectively. I just think the level of time and effort the Met and Durham are spending is a waste.

Just to be clear again, that’s not condoning behaviours. The Sue Gray report should’ve done the job and will probably be a more accurate reflection of the events (in a negative way for government) rather than the FPNs

you are looking for any excuse you can, it's clearly a party and the pm lied about being there

I'm bored of it already, and I'd suggest every fucker in Westminster is a lier, in fact politics IS the art of telling lies!

I'd also add, that while we are being distracted by party gate, there's very little focus on applying a windfall tax on the excessive profits made by the energy corporations.
They’re not all liars. Boris is though

I kept to the rules... Not alone in that either.

Grow a fucking pair yourself and actually stand up for something.

Its utter fucking bollocks to say everyone was at it and you know it. Maybe you did, I can't speak for your moral standards but most didn't and we expect the rules to apply to everyone.

Nothing changes if you just sit on your hands and say fuck all. Watch your forelock doesn't fall off from too much tugging.

As I have said before. I last saw my mum in March. March 19th. I was not allowed to see her after that and she died on the 28th June.

And we had to turn people away from the funeral. She was very well loved and liked. She was a wonderful woman, but we could only have 30 at the funeral and everyone else was turned away.

The church wouldn't let us sneak in just one more. So not 31, 30 only and that was it. They wouldn't let us go over by even 1.

One very old lady turned up, who was a very good friend of my mum and she was the 31st person and we hd to turn her away.

That's awfully sad Otis and if I thought for one minute Boris raising a glass to sat farewell to a colleague at the end of a working day would mean that you wouldn't have had to endure that or the old lady could have attended, I'd be right with you, but it clearly isn't the case.

It appears opinion is skewed based on whether people want him or not. the police have investigated and I don't believe for one minute they're as corrupt these days with so many standards to uphold and whistleblowers waiting for their moment to shine. If they deem that there isn't a case to answer, then I don't see why this instance should be big news, particularly after the same crowd suggesting Starmer and Rayner weren't at a party, despite booze, food and at 10pm no work done afterwards. Fwiw I don't have an issue with him doing that either, only raising for balance.

It's also incredibly disingenuous to wait for the report and then drip-feed another photo now. Have they suddenly come across this two years after an event when the whole partygate issue has already been rumbling on for close to a year? If there is more evidence get it out there. If there isn't then allow people to move on and govern. Whether you want them or not, I'm sure we can all agree that the time is better spent trying to implement policy and legislation over answering to yet another party accusation.

I'll now retreat for a period whilst the usual pile on ensues to pull this apart, extracts the part they disagree with and quotes it back to tell me it's all Boris' fault and gets 10 likes from all concerned.

I suppose the point in the first paragraph is that Otis should have just let the lady in and ignored the regulations like Boris did having a party in his home and workplace

As is often the way people are happy to do what is right for the good of the whole unless it means doing something they don’t want to do or not doing something they do.

This is the problem those making the rules didn’t follow them and Otis did

Well it wasnt the choice of Otis but the official administering it

Johnson’s main crime is signing off dumb and stupid laws that were pointless

I went to a funeral where a load turned up had to stand outside while a speaker system played the service and everyone outside were huddled near each other

The hypocrisy is there as well as there is zero difference in Johnson and Starmer here is there? Unless extended your arm out in a cheers mode is more likely to give Covid than not. I’ll have to see what the science says on that.

There is still a degree of corruption in the police I would have thought, but Boris himself, is very corrupt. He thinks the rules don't apply to him and I am not talking about Partygate as such, just in life in general. He was apparently the same at school.

The police wouldn’t have even re-opened these cases now if it wasn’t politicians. If it was a place of work in a private company who ordered pizza and drinks in an office they wouldn’t be spending hundreds of thousands re-opening a case

Disingenuous of who?

It isn't the media holding onto these photos and deciding when to release them.

It's junior staff and civil servants releasing them after Boris and pals threw them under the bus.

Yeah zero difference.

Zero difference apart from one was against the law and the other wasn't.

So now you admit Johnson didn’t break the law at this gathering

The MET is corrupt as fuck. It was before Dick, it was during her tenure, and it will continue to be now she's gone.

In any other time they'd have been long gone by now.

Absolutely.

If there is hard evidence of these weekly events then that might finally be the straw to break the camels back. I'm not sure they'd be any coming back from that, even for that greasy sack of shit.

Other than we were in complete lockdown when Boris partied multiple times we wasn’t when Starmer “partied” on a single occasion. If you want to ignore the legal differences then yeah, it’s exactly the same.

Don't worry, Johnson will swing into action, using his keen political mind and assisted by his dynamic and dedicated front bench they'll guide us through this with a raft of mind blowing policies and initiatives whose implementation is surely imminent.

Let’s be honest most of your defence of Johnson is edge lording to get a reaction.
