I have just read that the guy who is supposed to be buying Derby has been told to walk away, it says that Mike Ashley could come back in and buy the club.

Ashley is a prick but knows how to get a club working sustainably and on the off chance he doesn't he's loaded to the hilt. Pretty telling that he's sniffing around Derby but won't touch CCFC with a bargepole

After walking away from an original Derby bid, he had a bid accepted for Preston, then pulled out at the last minute, then offered less than before...they told him to feck off.
Re-appears back at Derby as preferred bidder, and has bid accepted, and now......sounds like he's pulling out again...who would have thought ??

He always buys as cheap as possible, and in Newcasle's case, took away a huge chunk for himself, year on year. Wasn't bothered about how they did as long as they stayed up and he had the PL money rolling in. Great business model, but horrible for the fans.

Agree. He has got on with the job despite intolerable situation. Unlike Lampard he hasn’t cut and run at the first opportunity of a ‘bigger’ club. I think he deserves great credit and it will be interesting to see what he achieves in the coming season.

I think he has done well at Derby taking into account the circumstances, if he stays I think Derby will challenge strongly for promotion.

I like Rooney & he definitely deserves credit for the job he's done (alongside more experienced & qualified coaches like Liam Rosenior who barely get a mention) but this is just ridiculous, over the top nonsense.

Agree on Rosenior. Get the feeling he’s the brains behind the operation. Not that that’s a dig at Rooney; ultimately as a manager your remit is to surround yourself with and listen to the right people.

Yep, cliche is a motivator and a tactician. We did better when Alex Miller was assistant, rather than Gary Pendrey, and there was a reason for that!

Good example. Smith was a decent enough manager, but never a number 2. Nilsson didn't want him as he was a threat to hs position rather than a help, which undermined him and led to a disastrous end to our first season in the Championship when really we should have made the play offs.

tbf, Smith was brought in as the motivation rather than the tactical acumen (much as Archie Knox to Eric Black). Not that that worked either, of course!

Good old Leroy, even took little Torquay up for a rare sojourn in L1! He was the first manager to get anything out of Adebayo Akinfenwa, waaaay back in 2004! He was a bit quicker then.

When the deadline passed, i'm sure i saw a story that came out from Derby, that said 'don't worry, almost there, all will be finalised in a couple of days', and here we are almost a week later, and no news.
Who knows...this new owner might turn out ok, but if i were a Derby fan (and if i was, shoot me please), i would be very wary of this guy's recent promises and history.
