Wasps downward spiral... (9 Viewers)

Are Wasps waiting until the after final game until making any announcements?

Interesting theory, hadn't thought of that. Given the potential hole they're in I wouldn't have thought the lesser European competition would make that much difference, but I guess it's possible.

Not so much where they finish but do they just want to see the season out first?

Im aware of the lease forfeiture clause but what does it in practice mean. It states the default position in essence is a return to the council and also will protect sub leases - us and wasps RFC I assume - but it also says something about anyone having security over ACl - is that just bondhders or could the parent company also claim to have that?

I assume the long chain of companies were set up by Richardson for a purpose

ACL and ACL 2006 have second charges over the lease due to Compass
In the 2020 Accounts there is a note that ACL owes Compass for its purchase of their Share of IEC - deferred to 2021. So that may be still outstanding

Maybe CCFC should offer to buy the lease off them and rent them the stadium on Sundays to play egg ball ?😆
Only at an extortionate, club-breaking rent though please!

(As a serious point, is there a stage where Wasps and CRFC merge, and take on CRFC's identity in the higher division? My other question is who will be spitting their tea out at that thought first? oldfiver or kneeza?)

Seriously though , SISU must be watching all this and have some kind of far fetched plan in place ?

Sounds like a waste of tea? :(

Ooh, I think that might be stretching it. From memory, and I'm entirely happy to be corrected, I think Cov might have looked seriously about buying Bedford for exactly that reason. This was in the early days of professionalism when the club had basically missed the bus.

Truthfully, as a Cov RFC fan, and with an endless dislike of Wasps being in Coventry, I wouldn't want to do that to another club either - even them.

The RFU would probably let it happen though!

What can SISU do, they won't purchase the lease unless it's given to them, or would they?

There's an interesting question. Imagine if a 250-year lease came up at a price significantly lower than building our own ground. I think the fan pressure would be intense, especially given we can't see any real possibility of building a new stadium elsewhere.

I don't doubt SISU are secretly delighted to see Wasps in trouble. How it plays out though, that'll be interesting...

They did. It's possibly the passport into the closed-shop cartel.

Bobby bridge blocked me last year when I said something negative about his beloved London wasps.

Appears or it looks like he is so supportive of them that it’s influencing his journalism….?

I really want them to go bust…. I have no sympathy for their fans, they should have fought better for their club. And the Coventry plastics deserve everything they get.

Yeah, of course they would, it’s just that they probably wouldn't be willing to pay much.

I’ve got no time for SISU but they might’ve played a good long game here and this could end up being the chance they’ve been holding out for

….until they get cocky, try to play hardball on price and then find out that the stadiums been sold to Blues for £5m

Not sure if its relevant but someone on the waspies site is saying that carnival cruises only this week received a knock back on refinancing debt.

So many players leaving Cov and Wasps, Rugby really seems to be on its arse, With no relegation from the Prem, clubs will run on threadbare squads to save money as they know they can't get relegated

On a slightly different tack, the brain-deads at the RFU and their puppetmasters are overseeing this sort of debacle in the Premiership.
This is the seat-sales plan for the dead-rubber bottom-of-the-table game at Worcester this weekend. Bear in mind that some of those blocks marked as unavailable are normally closed anyway.
Shockingly bad uptake that makes Wasps look well-supported. Screenshot_20220531-125701_Twitter.jpg

The RFU blocked it. Fairy had all the Bedford players training at Coundon Road (I saw them there), and the club name was being changed to Coventry Blues.
Fairy was a bit of a charlatan, mind.
