I have heard it suggested that Sunak hadn’t costed the proposed help vs the measures taken to raise the money and in reality it was about a headline not delivering the policy. Basically the Tories have no intention on delivering the help in full. Maybe this is just building the picture to call that out. With facts.

Just interested to know if you think if the Tories focused on economic strength and concern on lending would that be a vote loser for them? Or is it just a perception thing based on ingrained thoughts on economic competence which no longer really apply?

Surely this appeals to voters more likely to vote conservative and so would do more to win their vote? The alternative being they don't focus on these issues and those voters just keep their ingrained ideas that Labour can't manage the economy and so don't vote for them.
