. You're making theatricals out of nothing. If we went back to the pre decimal system you would have something to moan about. That system was incredibly complicated compared to what is used now and getting rid of it was the best thing that happened.

So the vast majority of those of employment age and younger won't have a knowledge of how to use it, yet those older have had the best part of 50 years to get used to the metric system, which is a lot more intuitive to scale up and down.So someone who is in their 50s will find the imperial system second nature. Very unlikely. Most people over 60 can use both imperial and metric.

Then there's the massive cost of changing it all over, including signage, measuring machines and devices. Then there's the fact hardly any other countries uses imperial measurements, so for international trade we're having to convert to metric anyway, adding in time, cost and creating the chance for mistakes to occur.
There's absolutely no sensible rationale behind this idea. It's another bonkers idea for a group of people who live in the past and still think that that way of life applies to today. This would end up being yet another case of shooting ourselves in both feet and just something to keep the rabid nutters onside. Then 18 months after when everything's gone to shit they'll be there whining that no-one could have predicted this would be the outcome, even though everyone had been screaming it at them the entire time.

Did wonder if something was going on when I saw the express headline yesterday. Something about gove trying to save Johnson, which of indicates he'll be doing the exact opposite.

The overwhelming majority of people over 50 wouldn't want a return to full imperial measurements . We still use imperial as things stand alongside metric so there is absolutely no need to change anything.

Yeah, i was saying last week Johnson might want to consider calling confidence vote himself after release of Gray report as it would’ve looked a lot better (‘Ive changed the team, things have improved but it’s only right you vote on it as behaviours at No 10 were unacceptable’) than drip drip of letters and when it looks like it will eventually come to a vote anyway
