Do you want to discuss boring politics? (29 Viewers)

It’s give him 12 months. I would be surprised if he resigned in the interim. I would also be surprised if there’s a fresh confidence vote in 12 months time, too near to a GE to rock the boat again. I suspect many Tories will end up regretting their vote tonight come the next GE.

As per other post I wouldn’t be surprised if the privileges committee findings gives the party another chance within the 12 month period. Whether Johnson goes for early election to avoid that though, who knows

Will be interesting to see what happens if the Privileges committee finds him guilty of misleading parliament.

Wonder which way tories on the comittee voted tonight?
Cross party too so he’s going to get some tough questions that require serious answers. He’s not going to be able to just rock up and crack a few jokes, no doubt he’ll try but it won’t wash like it does when he meets the 1922 committee or a room full the Boris cult.

Think he probably is for the reasons you’ve outlined earlier

It’s for the best that he’ll stay on as PM - anyone else could label it as a fresh start for the next GE.
That will happen at some point - once the party machine has concluded they can pin literally everything on him then they’ll make their move, and bring in a new face free of this controversy.

labour are already pushing the could of shown backbone but backed boris line

it'll be a mad 12 months as 2/3 of the none payroll want him gone and they are about to be destroyed in a red wall seat and lose a true blue southwest seat

going to be so much blue on blue

With a majority as big as his he won’t be remotely fussed

he will be fussed as it shows under him the will lose the redwall seats and they will lose a lot of safe southern seats to the lib dems at the next election

there is no way back under him

He won’t because the MO is the same. Don’t resign and wait for it to blow over. Particularly with an opposition leader who sneers at red wall constituencies

The party has a majority but Boris doesn't. It will make voting through, pieces of legislation difficult.

Has the Government lost a (meaningful) Commons vote yet?

The Government will ‘fight’ on, putting out one fire after another in a state of inertia until the next election…

Even then, we’re heading for another hung parliament in 2023/24 at this rate. Labour needs more Scottish seats (at least 20) to have a good chance of forming a majority.

It won’t. The criminal clown gets away with everything and will presumably tie in things to the legislation that make rebels look like anti populists.

It will purely depend on what happens in the next 12 months and what the polls then are like

The by elections will create more noise and then after that it will settle down but purely depends on future polling in the next year

These things are usually self fulfilling though - polls will be down because he's got no authority, meaning he'll continue to have no authority.

Also, William Hague saying he should go is quite significant. Failed as Tory leader, but still quite respected and high profile. If any of his major cabinet colleagues fail to back him enthusiastically, it could tip more to jump

Wonder how Sunak will play it?

A week is a long time in politics let alone 12 months

I would rule out Mr Johnson just yet

We still haven’t got beergate results - the worst result for Starmer being the most likely outcome and even if his popularity is low the left of labour will then be circling thinking their influence can grow

Sunak will be shuffled to minister for very little probably
