To be fair the outs are already decent

Shipley
Jones
Pask
Drysdale

If we can add Dacosta/ Reid to that list then you've got to say the deadwood has gone
I dont get this obsession of getting rid of Reid, the lad literally only turned 20 last month, that's still really young, worth at least another season to see if he can develop.

Chelsea full of stories like that. Think it works quite well for them commercially but not good for the players.
Not exactly bad. JCS has been able to take advantage of Chelsea's facilities and coaches, been paid a decent wage and spent the majority of his career in the Championship which is probably his level.

He's now going to move to a Championship club on a decent wage with a good signing bonus. Don't really know what more he could want.

It's more Robins hasn't been overly encouraging in his public statements, and he doesn't show any signs of having any confidence in actually playing him some time.

Saw this video a while ago on the same subject. Thought it was interesting.

Quite shady, but don't think they're breaking any rules and it seems to work for them

He's still young though, with another 2 years on his contract, was signed for a fee with the view of developing him, not everyone is first team quality at 19. He's worth another season, and a loan out. No ones going to pay a fee for him, as he hasn't been loaned out to prove his ability. Despite Robins criticisms, its harsh to call him deadwood, 18 months into a signing that was for development. Its not like he's been forced out of the u23s by a better player coming through.

Not really aimed at you NW, just keep seeing offload Reid comments. He may and probably won't make it, but its still early doors.

But we also paid a fee for him, and he's not even seen as good enough to be backup. Don't think anybody would have expected him to walz into the first team, but probably would have hoped that he'd be called on to play if the LWB ended up injured or suspended. Instead we keep signing wing backs to go ahead of him!

@better days did actually think Newton was at a similar level if not as strong a personality (or that was the impression I got, so tagging them in case i was wrong!), and he was released. Reid doesn't seem trusted at all.

Robins said he doesnt fit in at LWB, potentially he could train hard and become a CB?

And Chelsea’s loan “model” has been under threat over the last couple of years, there was an exodus last season of talented youngsters who could have stayed

In the 18 months he's been here he seemingly hasn't at all progressed and hasn't received any glowing reports or praise. The only real major update is that he's not suited for the position that he was signed for.

Not exactly a great sign.

Reid may still kick on if he gets a chance pre-season
Newton definitely looked a player but he was a very shy and quiet lad which probably counted against him

Been a rule change clubs are only allowed to have 8 players over the age of 21 out on loan this coming season, drops to 7 the next season then 6 the season after that, it was said Chelsea had 31 out on loan throughout Europe.
