Alright all,

Just sat at work thinking, sorry if this has been covered in another post but with the 10,000 posts regarding managers recently I can't look at every post to find out.....anyway,

At first I thought it was odd to sack Thorn when they did, after letting him create his own team over the summer bringing in 9 players and with the team undefeated (albeit after some shitty half a match performances) does anyone think this is what was going to happen regardless ? Because lets face it Thorn is a fantastic spotter of talent, so I wonder if they thought "let him build a team, bring in the players he fancies then the second he puts a foot wrong, wether it be an opening day defeat or 3 games in with 3 points, get rid and bring in a new manager that can better man manage the players that Thorn has hand picked"

As I say just a theory :)

Someone alluded to this yesterday I believe.

Would certainly make some sense.

Don't think it's as deep as that CovisGod.. I think it just gives a big insight into how SISU are thinking - and I think they are ABSOLUTELY desperate to get back into the championship this season and will not tolerate anything or anyone that doesn't help them achieve this - they are not IMO going to give anyone time to get it right they are demanding results NOW and the reason for this is obvious .. it's the losses they will have to cover if we do not get back up.. they are not going to run with this if it looks like we won't bounce straight back up

Most of the players bought in will not have been spotted. The likes of brown and balm will have been touted to other clubs as would the French guys. Jennings was on trial for ever and kilbane is not someone scouted.

They sacked him because things had not changed, same formations, same results, same excuses.

I reckon they just decided to allow him to build a squad and give him 10 games to prove he'd learned from last year's errors.

They felt after 4 games that they'd seen enough to suggest he hadn't learned and felt there was no reason to wait and allow us to drift further away from the top. I tend to agree.

another theory ! do you think he was sacked at half time and the players knew that and that is why they came out and played the way they did because they were pissed off !!!!!

Before the game: "Right boys, I've been sacked. This is your last game with me in charge".

Half-time: "Brilliant stuff! I might even keep my job if you carry on like this!".

Where is this "Thorn is a fantastic spotter of talent" bollocks from?

For every Keiren Westwood there is a Guillam Beuzelin.

We have very little idea how good a scout he was. For every signing we can speculate he recommended, we have no idea:

- who he recommended that was never signed (from extensive playing of FM we will have signed less than 5% of his recommendations).
- how good he was at assessing future opponents.
- how good he was at interpreting a manager's instructions as to which type of player he should be looking for, etc.

Absolute rubbish. Every manager signs dud players - Ferguson included.

He played a role in, or scouted Gunnarsson, Westwood and Keogh, and unearthed quality loan players unheard of at the time, such as Henderson and Norwood.

When you bear in mind how long he was associated with the club, and how restricted his activity was, that's a good hit-rate by anyone's standards.

That's the problem with some people, they become so myopic that have to rubbish everything some people do; as opposed to knowing when constructive criticism should finish and at least having the good grace to acknowledge some positives

My almost fatherly advise was aimed at trying to improve the lowly quality of fare you offer up on here. Your riposte showed I was wasting my time. Your school teachers must share my disappointment in you.

You'll also note, should you bother to research before offering such 'wisdom' that I've generally been measured of Thorn in my assessment; and not as you assert

So he can't scout now?

When I said on here how good Jennings is there was lots of replies that he could be shite and more of a similar drift. Came from Tranmere and went to Scotland so might be no good. Who was he scouted by? Certainly not well thought of by many on here. And that is just one of the latest signings.
