In tonight’s edition of PUSB, Sky Blues fans can read a two-page exclusive from chief executive Tim Fisher following the events of the last few days.

In it, Fisher writes: “As everyone is aware, there has been massive change both on and off the field during the summer, much of it involving cutting our cloth according to our new budgets.

“However, in conjunction with financial re-structuring we desperately needed a cultural change to ensure positive results going forward.

“This cultural change is one that promotes aspiration, success and leadership. Coventry City is a big club that requires everyone associated with the club to have an ambitious and successful outlook coupled with a work ethic that highlights that we will do ‘what it takes’ to push on through the challenges.

“At the end of the season we knew we were going to lose many of our leading players who, quite understandably, wanted to continue to play in the Championship. All were offered deals to stay.

“To date, we have brought in nine players to create a squad capable of pushing for promotion and fit for purpose in terms of our immediate ambition.

“We have one of the largest – if not the largest – playing budgets in the division and have a strong squad. On Saturday we had Gary McSheffrey and Callum Ball on the bench to take to the field in the second half. Most would agree that they would be the primary strike force at most League One clubs.

“Over the last three league games we have seen flashes of the quality from the new players that led the club to recruit them. But only flashes.

“Success only comes from consistent high-level performances coupled with a winning mentality - the desire to win. We cannot escape the fact that the results have not been acceptable.

“All staff were fully informed over the summer that the aim this season was to reverse the trend of failure and have a strong start. The situation required change to ensure that we do not have an embedded trend of not winning.”

I tend to be looking through the round window of negativity when it comes to Mr Fisher.

I will always wonder if we had the same level of investment in new players last season what would have happened, talk about bolting the stable door....

Fisher is a total knob and I for one am tired of listening to him spouting this sort of tripe - let's have some more management changes and let's start by knocking on his door with the P45s

"coupled with a work ethic that highlights that we will do ‘what it takes’ to push on through the challenges." - is this a dig at AT backing up some of the rumours we have heard since AT was sacked

Ok I've been a bit out the loop of late - which rumours?

On face value I don't really disagree with what he's said - the players are good but the results haven't been and a lot of that is down to substitutions - wrong time and wrong sub for example (last example being Barton picking up a knock on Saturday after a long time out with injury and still not being subbed.

Does appear that way. Im not sure what went on behind the scenes but obviously enough was enough.

What annoys me most about this sort of speech is that Fisher doesn't appear to take any responsibility for this - hang on a minute mate - YOU were in charge - YOU shouldn't have allowed it to get as bad as it is - where is your apology? Where is your accountability? where is your acceptance that YOU are also responsible for operation of the club and that means the team manager and players

Do we trust Fisher's judgement going forward from here?

NO because he can apparently screw up as much as he likes and there are no consequences for him personally

Do not think anything overly wrong is stated here:thinking about: does allude to the fact we need to change our losing mentality.... which i think could indicate Shaw/ Carsely not favourites for the new managers position. Carsely being here last season is part of the regime which is used to this feeling of not winning, and shaw has been part of the club for a long while now during his playing days. A fresh manager is needed just to breathe a breath of fresh air into the club to change this mentality:p

More tripe from Tim Fisher, is this bloke for real ? There all sorts of ways of looking at this for instance the cynic in me could suggest with the transfer window 3 days away sacking the manager almost certainly stops any signings happening or could it be this has been planned out for weeks, the hiring of Richard Shaw and Lee Carsley, was that the groundwork for change. Did the players get wind of it Saturday hence that abject second half performance ? Why did Fisher cancel his 8 o'clock radio booking ? he said he was at a meeting....at 8 o'clock ? don't think so. he couldn't handle Shane O'Connor last Friday. There was understandable fan anger aimed at Andy Thorn after that second half showing Saturday been building up for weeks, but for me the real villain is this Tim Fisher who in my opinion is well overdue a public slagging. He carrys the SISU torch, he could always resign.

What he says is quite right. How he says it may not sit well with everyone or be inspiring to the team but it needed to be said.
I think he could see along with seven to six billion of us on this very forum that Thorn was no good, so why you say he doesn't know football is silly. Sure he knows enough to judge as do you and I.
As i set out elswhere on these boards SISU are on a one season win all or risk losing all deal. They won't watch mediocrity at this level with the best sqaud and backed club in this league.

If Andy Thorn wasn't good enough on the 26th of August how is it he was good enough to be given a new rolling contract in June after taking us down ?

What investment this season ?
They haven't invested in the team they have made a profit this summer sold Bigi and Keogh lost high earners Clingan, Eastwood, aswell as others.
What have they paid out nothing !!!!!!!!
Brought in unproven freebies on less money and not paid the rent !!!!!!

i just thought that meant that our team was good enough to beat Bury - due to players such as ball and mcsheff being unable to make the starting lineup..? definitely what i think anyway.

At least we have brought in players this season, 9 I believe you still have to pay the wages, and not have to rely on a load of kids. Clingan and Eastwood offered nothing last season, Bigi was only a bit part player, although you could see his class. Would have been great for us this season.

Correct, people forget he was handed the keys to a sinking ship with no life boats.
I like the way he won't be bullied by the council or even SISU. He went cap in hand for a budget and got it. The bloke has put his neck on the line for CCFC. He hasnt shirked.
Yes he gets paid
Yes we sold players in the summer but we were relegated thus forcing the issue. I think most are happy with the squad we have now. So why all the hate?
I much happier with him in charge than orange Ken and the crazy Canuck

There is no doubt Fisher is a slippery customer. There is also no doubt that he and Waggott have engineered some kind of bonus if they achieve success this season - fair enough.

To quote the "context" argument you have to think who would be better in charge with sisu as owners? Deuileu shows how bad it could be. He was a clown handing out contracts to mediocre players and a clueless manager. Fisher will only think of himself but he's a bright guy and as he has a vested interest in our success he wii fight our corner.

I quite like him.
