Andrew Bridgend has said if he doesn’t go the 22 committee will change the rules next week and they’ll kick him out before the summer recess. He also said (without any sense of irony) that the next leader will have to have honesty, integrity and leadership and any cabinet ministers who continue to back him have non of those qualities.

Interesting assessment, not mine but did make me wonder…

‘Roger Gale waxing lyrical about how the rules must now be changed to remove Johnson, seems to have overlooked the grenade Johnson is holding and which he has threatened to detonate and will detonate if there is such move in the 1922 committee. Before it can happen he will call a GE.

In his own mind (and in reality!) he personally won the party their majority and most of them their seats, and over his dead body will they simply march in and take the fruits of that victory from him. If he goes they all go. This is how he sees it. The media and its talking heads don't appear yet to have grasped this.

No tory is going to detonate a GE right now. It is the one thing they fear more than Johnson remaining in power- them all losing their jobs to some appalling coalition with the Lib Dems and SNP calling the tune’

Could be correct. Guess we’ll soon find out over the next couple of days as surely the 1922 will have to change the rules as this is just a shitshow

Edit - would need to get through Parliament which would be a struggle as I can’t imagine Tories voting for it

Of course it’s this that makes the big guns resign. Not the other bits of law breaking, rank corruption, bungling of Brexit or anything else.

As for Johnson-he will never resign. They will have to force him out if they have the balls
