Flynn Downes of Swansea is going to West Ham for £12m. It does pose the question, do we slightly overrate the “big three” as nobody seems to be putting forward that sort of money to us (yet?)

I don't as that's what their value is to us, higher than what the other teams think.
In my eyes they are the big three as should be sold as that, any one of them 10m plus regardless...PUSB

Because if they had they would almost certainly be gone by now.

No proof of that though. All reports point to us knocking back bids for all three. What the bids are, we don't know. However after it was reported Middlesborough had bid for Vic, Wilder said something along the lines of being quoted £15m for a championship striker. IIIRC.

I think it's quite clear we are pushing for the high fees.

He quite clearly wasn't referring to him - he was also quoted to have said £20-25m I believe. Middlesbrough have been linked with a plethora of strikers though so fans automatically assuming it's him is ridiculous, especially as there's not a chance we would've quoted anywhere near that figure.

Bestikas were linked and it was reported that the club quoted them around £8-£10m which is far more likely and realistic if true.

Regardless of guess work figures, the point still stands. Platt questioned why we aren't asking for figures around £12m. In my opinion we will be around that mark for Vic at least.

I think we probably are asking for figures like that....but the closer the season gets, and the closer the deadline gets.... which ridiculously is 7 games into the season, the worry is that we'd take less!! (With less time to look to replace- if that is even the plan)
The above could apply to any of the three.

No, he was questioning whether the fanbase are guilty of massively over-inflating valuations for our players when clubs seemingly aren't submitting similar sized bids to the one West Ham just had accepted for Downes.

Which really answers itself.

Ok, whatever. Doesn't make much difference to my point when you are using the same opinion of what we are being offered as your counter-arguement.

You maybe right but equaly you maybe wrong.

Anyway, we've seen a wild variation in our fanbase's valuations of the "big 3". £5m all the way upto £20m+. However, I don't think it's beyond reasonable belief to think we are asking around £12m-£15m for Vic.

That make sense in my head anyway. 😬

The naive side of me is hoping that with all the increased revenue from ST and kit sales we can afford to maybe hold on to them all.
Have a real go this season

I know , naive

Not really. I've simply said the majority of our fanbase are way off with regards to their valuations. Which is more than likely true.

Fans are quite clearly guilty of looking at previous inflated transfer fees paid in the past for Championship strikers and automatically believing Gyokeres will go for similar amounts which I just can't agree with.

ST sales would've generated only around £1m in turnover give or take.

Even just to match that with kit sales, every season ticket holder would have to purchase the full kit - shirt, shorts and socks.

Sadly there are all kinds of “unforeseen costs” that have yet to be accounted for.

Based on what recent example?

How does Downes compare with Hamer and O'Hare? How old is Downes and can he score goals? Maybe give us a clue what our players are worth.

How much would any one of the golden three be worth in the January transfer window if they kick on again? Easier said than done to keep them all but next season could be very special.

Seeming as Beskitas ended up getting Wout Weghorst I doubt they have any interest now

100% agree.
Ridiculous that it is going 7 (Championship) games deep into the season! Not looked how many Prem games, but will be less.
If we can get to the start of the season without any of our “big” three leaving it will look like signings, add in Palmer, the two 19 year olds and three or four loans .
Down to bit of luck re. Injuries obviously that’s the same for all but I think we will be okay.

Come on, we are City fans. I think the big three are priceless, because they are to us. 20-25 million? they are worth treble that (to me). I am 60 now and still think City will win every game. I still live in denial of Leicester winning the premier. In my world CCFC are god like and by far the best team in the world. I like my world.
