My shout:

Fast tricky LWB like Maatsen or McCallum or similar.

Back up centre back in the Fadz mould.

Couple of big / strong strikers. One young, maybe one cheap oldie.

Waghorn btw was an expensive oldie.

Given that Collins’s stock is no doubt low, where’s he going to end up? L1/L2 on low wages?

I’d offer him a low wage (what else he gonna get) to have one last chance in his career to be a hometown hero.

It might be that bit of drive he needs.
I think MR has been clear that he won’t strengthen attacking options unless we lose one if our key front players

I don’t know. A young Prem striker who their club desperately needs to get real matches into might come for really low wage contributions.

Why would a PL club send their player here knowing he'll be competing with four strikers? Their wage contributions would only likely be nominal if he's guaranteed game time.

Another striker is probably at the very bottom on the list of priorities anyway.

Collins is rubbish, would rather have Tavares as back up

Agreed. But in practice, a pacy, attack minded left wing back, ala Maatsen, could be pivotal to our attacking play. A fully fit Dabo and a left footed equivalent, on each flank, could be pivotal to our attacking play and getting the ball up the pitch.

From what Ive seen of Waggy I would gladly exchange him for Collins also a dominant centre back who's got more pace than Fadz

Yep, agreed. I’d rather have a younger, cheaper (I’d wager), taller striker in Collins than Waghorn who has so far looked totally not arsed. I have this weird notion that a Cov supporter might just throw their head in a melee in the 90th minute if it meant something.

If Waghorn could go to Ipswich or similar and free up wages then Collins, Hudlin and a young centre back for the same money?

I’d say yes.

Waghorn is a far better player than Collins, played most of his career at a better level. He's never looked not arsed, genuinely don't know where you reached that conclusion from.

Hudlin lol

Supports signing a washed up James Collins and a beanpole from Solihull
Thinks Sheaf is shit

Any further hot takes?

ah, the age old 'can't be arsed' argument...'we need players with passion' rubbish that's spouted on CWR after every defeat
The difference between this squad and our last Championship squad before we were relegated is, to me, the togetherness and the fact the majority play for each other. Walker looks like he can’t be arsed and Waghorn has ping-ponged between trying too hard and giving up.

It’s the Andy Morrell / Stern John argument rebooted.

The difference is we have way more quality, and a squad that has a good team spirit

Huge lol at the idea of players shirking a dangerous aerial challenge only for Collins to decapitate himself because he suddenly remembered Huckerby’s goal against Man Utd on his dad’s battered VHS

Just ran some expert analysis through the Glickbot 5000 which says there are a few other City fans out there who would gladly play, likely on a lower wage than Collins (so even better). Do you want to call Juggy first or should I?

You’re going to have his agent out of work soon the amount of times you’ve mentioned him. I’d love him to be brilliant for your sake but everything points to that not being the case unfortunately

If Waghorn stays this season, I think he'll add a lot more to the team than he did last year.
If one striker has to go for another to come in though, I'd much rather we keep Tyler Walker.

Maybe loan Tavares out until January

Collins has gone Derby today! Gets around a bit but guaranteed goals with him

It wouldn’t be the same without someone wanting us to sign Collins.
