Alan Nixon tweeting that Burnley have 'backed off' from O'Hare. He also has a story on us tomorrow.

Hmm, clubs refusing to pay more than a couple of million for Hamer and O’Hare. Not great for the “model” if someone has to go, I think attentions will be turned to Gyokeres now unfortunately

Only striker yet to score in preseason, sack him off :p

Was it Nixon that claimed Burnley had cooled their interest on O'Hare and turned their attention to Cullen? Strange when they're two completely different types of midfielders.

Is that a great signing for them ? Not sure it is tbh

Playing in a league ranked similar to the Serbian and Ukrainian leagues , below the Scottish Premier
It's an average signing I agree. No way the Scots Prem is better than the Belgian league though.

You'll upset half the forum with that
Yep I'm in for it now. True though, I'm assuming there's some sort of dodgy ranking system and Rangers massively bumped up the points for the Scots Prem by getting to that final. Top to bottom its horrendous though and definitely not better than the Belgian league.

I think rangers beat antwerp who finished 4th 9 - 5 over 2 legs last season in the europa ... besides a couple teams it's also a poor league like the SPL

Please don't think that I'm saying it's good haha! I'm just not having the Scots league as better. As an aside I think it's a real shame the Dutch/Belgian league merger fell through. Would have been brilliant for both leagues in my opinion.

I think the coefficient ratings of rangers and celtic pushes it above but as a whole , I think it's also a poop league tbh 😄

jack Hendry who was one of the worst defenders ever when he was at Celtic looks a world beater in Belgium

Sounds like he had a mixed time to be honest but decent attempt at defending the awful football north of the border.

Above is a much more recent link telling us he was bombed out of the Brugge squad. So anyone with half a functional brain can see, as I said, he seems to have had a mixed time.

What about Shankland thoigh, he was a good player in Scotland but he’s been like a deer infront of headlights in Belgiam
Using single players as examples is a bit silly really but it's classic O'Day. Pukki wasn't very good at Celtic but was excellent in the Championship. He'll be telling us the SPL is better than the Championship next.
The SPL which has achieved its somewhat dubious ranking because of Rangers and only Rangers might I add. I doubt Celtic getting dumped out by Scandinavian minnows did much to help.

I think in any case you can safely judge a league by its worst teams rather than its best. Norwich last season would still likely have walked these B and C grade European leagues. Even Peterborough and Barnsley would have made a title challenge in Scotland, perhaps Belgium too.

The Scottish national team has at least improved from the dire place it once was in but let’s not kid ourselves the league is still weak.

The worst team in Belgium last season spent a million quid on Shankland. I mean it was a total waste but I was surprised they could do it.
Good point about the national teams too, the Belgian league constantly churns out top talent. It's still a poor league and could have done with the Dutch merger, but its clear of the SPL.
