Rangers and Celtic how far are we behind them? (3 Viewers)

Apologies if this has been raised before. I know Rangers and Celtic are virtually always in the Champions League, have bigger crowds and Rangers reached a European final this year, but I wonder in terms of signing players how far we are behind them. Don't think either could afford our big three. They do seem to sign some class players from Europe that progress to the Prem for big bucks. Whilst their income for gates and merch is way above ours, not sure their TV money is above ours, although Champions League TV money may push them above us. Just interested in facts and opinions. Are we fishing in the same pool as them, or are they way above us?

To be fair, neither have been in the UCL for a while. Celtic should outstrip the Rangers financially now with automatic group stage qualification. They've spent about 20 million already this window so could afford to pick our players off if they wanted to. They both seem to be quite savvy with foreign signings around 4-5 million mark that seem to pay off big. Always wish they'd do a British cup instead of the League cup not sure how it'd work but be nice to see how they'd compete with high end championship and premier league sides

Squads as they are, neither would finish convincingly top 6 of this league imo.
But in a different league such as ours or the Premiership both Rangers & Celtic would spend millions. They are both up there with the biggest clubs in the world support wise, Celtic brought thousands here for Richard Shaws testimonial ffs! and I know a lot came from surrounding towns and citys but I also seen a row of coaches from Scotland.

Transported me back to the West End, with the old Celtic / Rangers and Tiswas / Swapshop chants !

Edit: On the latter note, anybody want to swap any City memorabilia for a slightly soiled inflatable Sally James? DM me

Rangers and Celtic get big gates and merchandise revenue, the chance / guarantee almost of European football and fervent fans, hence they can attract some good talent by paying decent wages etc.

Outside of those, the league is poor so
It may be that their talented players aren’t regularly in challenging games, so when they are met with decent opponents they don’t have that sharpness.

In terms of how far behind? Less than half their fan base and much less chance of getting to Europe.

That’s my take on it.

A long way behind. Rangers were in a major European final last year and weren't even the best side in Scotland.
Massive crowds, insane away support. Large multi million pound squads and all this from Scottish league finances.
If they had access to the English game and its money pots they would only get bigger.

More importantly how far are we behind Ajax and Feyenoord? 🤷‍♂️;)

We're so far behind Rangers and Celtic - in every sense.

Credit to the OP for starting something a little different but it's not even a contest.

The obsession with Scottish football is weird.

May as well ask if we are at the level of Anderlecht or Genk

Is it just a Coventry thing?
Even when I was in school, if people weren't supporters of Cov or Premier League Top 4 clubs, it seemed to be Celtic or Rangers

I know loads who say they support them as well as.

Great great great grandad was Scottish or Irish and they think they are scrapping on the front line.

We had a wolves fan in my junior school. Never saw Celtic or Rangers. Never gave time to thinking about the religious side of their argument. Or for that matter Liverpool / Everton. the Gaza flute playing mime a few years ago seemed daft. So Liverpool/ Celtic we’re my Sunday morning ‘How did they do?’. I was born in Derby. Moved to Cov in 65. Very young. I remember my aunt bought me a Man U shirt. Pah. Sky Blue for me.
